Failure to follow the safety instructions in this user manual may result in serious bodily injury or death or in a fire or
an explosion causing damage to property.
∙ USE OUTDOORS ONLY.
∙ Do not use in enclosed spaces! Toxic fumes can accumu-
late which can cause serious bodily injury or death.
∙ Only use the appliance in a well ventilated area. Do not
use it in a garage, porch, covered patio or under an over-
head structure of any kind.
∙ The appliance is not intended to be installed in or on rec-
reational vehicles and/or boats.
∙ IMPORTANT! Keep children and pets away!
∙ The appliance should never be used by children.
∙ Improper assembly may be dangerous. The appliance
must be properly assembled according to the assembly
instructions.
∙ Always keep the barbecue on a stable, level surface.
∙ IMPORTANT! Do not use spirit or petrol for lighting or re-
lighting! Only use firelighters complying to EN 1860-3.
∙ IMPORTANT! This grill gets very hot and must not be
moved whilst in use!
∙ Exercise reasonable care when operating the appliance.
∙ Never leave coals and ashes in grill unattended.
∙ Open the lid while lighting and getting the charcoal
started.
∙ We recommend the use of a charcoal chimney starter. If
you choose to use charcoal lighting fluid, only use lighting
fluid approved for lighting charcoal.
∙ Do not use gasoline, alcohol or other highly volatile fluids
to light charcoal.
∙ Only place the food onto the barbecue once the fuel is
covered with a layer of ash! It is recommended that the
grill is heated up before the first use and the fuel must
glow for at least 30 minutes. This allows the lighter fluid
to burn out completely. Failure to observe this informa-
tion could trap fumes from lighter fluid in the barbecue
and may result in a flash fire or explosion when lid is
opened.
∙ Never use charcoal that has been pre-treated with lighter
fluid. Use only a high grade plain charcoal or charcoal/
wood mixture.
∙ Never add charcoal lighting fluid to hot or even warm
coals as flashback may occur causing severe burns.
∙ Do not exceed a temperature of 200 °C. Do not allow
charcoal and/or wood to rest on the walls of grill. Doing
so will greatly reduce the life of the metal and finish of
your grill.
∙ After each use, clean the grill thoroughly and reapply a
light coat of oil to interior to prevent rusting. Cover the
grill to protect it from excessive rusting.
∙ We advise to have a fire extinguisher at hand. Refer to
your local authority to determine proper size and type of
fire extinguisher.
∙ Store the grill out of reach of children and in a dry loca-
tion when not in use.
∙ This appliance must be kept away from flammable mate-
rials during use. Combustible materials should never be
within 1 meter of the back or sides of the appliance.
∙ Keep the cooking area (3 meters around the appliance)
clear of sources of ignition such as pilot lights on water
heaters, live electrical appliances, etc. and flammable
vapours/liquids such as gasoline, alcohol, etc.
∙ Keep any electrical supply cord, gas and fuel supply hose
away from any heated surfaces.
∙ Do not store objects or materials in the storage area
under the appliance, that would block the flow of combus-

tion air to the underside of the firebox.
∙ Do not use grill without ash pan in place.
∙ Do not attempt to remove ash pan while it contains hot
coals or during grilling.
∙ Do not remove ashes until all charcoal is completely
burned out and fully extinguished and grill is cool.
∙ Always put charcoal in the charcoal grate. Do not put
charcoal directly in the bottom of the firebox.
∙ Do not wear clothing with loose flowing sleeves while
lighting or using the barbecue.
∙ Use long-handled barbecue utensils and oven mitts to
avoid burns and splatters. Use protective gloves when
handling hot components.
∙ Do not use barbecue in high winds.
∙ Never touch the cooking or charcoal grates, ashes, char-
coal or the barbecue to see if they are hot.
∙ When opening the lid, keep hands, face and body a safe
distance from hot steam and flame flare-ups. Make sure
the lid is pushed all the way open. If lid is not fully open, it
could fall back and cause injury.
∙ Do not use water to control flare-ups or to extinguish
charcoal.
∙ Extinguish charcoal when finished cooking. Close the lid
and the ventilation to suffocate the flames.
∙ Never dump hot coals where they might be stepped on or
be a fire hazard. Never dump ashes or coals before they
are fully extinguished. Do not store barbecue until ashes
and coals are fully extinguished.
∙ This barbecue is not intended for and should never be
used as a heater.
∙ Lining the firebox with aluminium foil will obstruct the air
flow. Instead, use a drip pan to catch drippings from meat
when barbecuing by the indirect method.
