MAINTENANCE NOTES

Regular inspection:

- Always keep compression jaw sets, expander heads
and cylinder clean. When dirty, clean them with a
brush and oil them. The tool is then to be stored in a dry place.
- Before each use, check the compression jaw sets, the
expanding device and the tool for damage or visible wear.
Damaged tools must no longer be used and should immedia-
tely be sent to an authorised service centre for repair
- Make sure that the jaw sets are fully applied across the entire
surface and at a right angle during the compression process,
and the compression sleeve is inserted up to the fitting.
- Regularly grease the expanding tool tapers. Do not apply
grease to the surface of expander segments! If excess grease
is applied to the expanding segments, the segments have to
be cleaned thoroughly (for example, petroleum ether) and
subsequently dried.
Grease the inside of the cylinder regularly (tube of lubricant is
enclosed); ensure the outer surface of the cylinder remains dry.
Compression jaws are not greased.
Grease the taper of the expander tools regularly (tube of lubricant is
supplied with the tool). Do not apply too much grease to the taper to
avoid any excess grease getting into the pipe.
Caution:
Do not grease the surface of the expander segments that are in
contact with the pipe! Keep the outer surfaces free from grease.
Repairs:
Risk of accident!
Do not perform any repairs on the tool yourself! Repairs
should only be carried out by an authorised service centre.
Storage:
Never store the tool if wet! Dry the tool and grease it. Then store it in
a dry place.
