ilalntenance ot locomotive
Proirerly serviced locos will give many years of pleasure. Parts
subject to wear (motor brushes, traction tyres and bulbs) can easily
be replaced. Top cleanline€s is ol paramount importanc€ tor the
proper functigning of modela and layout. Carpet llutfs, hairand
dust specks may impairoreven destroy the delicate mechanism of
a loco. Track and loco wheels must bs clgansd from time to time
(preferably using No- 66624 Trix Track-Cleanser and No. 66623
MinitrixWheel-Brush). Nevef run layouts on a carpet orllutty table
cloth.
Never exert pressure on the loco, never push it along lhe track, never
turn driving wheels by hand.
Model locomotivgs attain their best performance {even start, quiet
and smooth running, maximum speed) alter a cedaln running in
time. For this purpose, a locomotive should be worl€d over the longest
line of the layout at changing speeds and direclions ior about 20
minutes.
Oiling and greasing (Fig. 'l)
Oil: a most minute drop only of No.66625T.ix Sp€cial Oil on axle-
bearings ol wheels, cog-wheels and gear axles X. Grease: a very
smallquantity (size ofa pin-head) of No.66626Tfix SpecialGrease
for worm€ears and cog-wheel gears Y. Every 50 hours of operation
only. Never use edible oils, skin creams etc.

Please note:
The buih in Seles:trix decoder is prepared ior analogous operation.
The locünotlve has to be programmed lor dlgital operation (refer
notes conceming the programming devices),The decoder can
neither be used with IrcC and NI,FA conlrol systems nor lor
layouts based onTrix ems circuit syqtems.
Removal of tender body (Fig.3)
Undo screw A and slide body otf in direction ol afio\ /. On re-insertion
of the tender body make surelhal cables are properly positioned in
groove C to aviod them getting damaged.
Replacement ot iender bulb (Fig.3)
Take of tend€r body B and loos€n screw D. Lift otf printed circuit
16. Use tweezers to lake out bulb. On replacement of bulb ensure
propper contact between bulb and contact piece. lsolating disc E
must by properly positioned on tender frame. On re-insertion of
printed circuit check to make sure lhat spaings F make proper
contact with brush retainer cliDs ll.
Replacement of motor (Fig.3)
Atter removing body, decoderlT + 18 and printed circuit l6 loosen
screw G. Remove bogie frame 28 and then the first set of tender
wheels25. Use suitably pointed obiect to ease molor reiaining clip
20 out of position and slide upward. Do likewise with rear motqrclip.
on re-insertion of motor watch for marks Kto be on the same side
of the frame as belore as otherwise directions of travel will be
reversed.
Replacementof brushes (Fig- 3)
Remove motor Slide off brush retainer-clips- Do not lose pressure
spring ll. Shake out used brushes and insert new ones L. Insert
spring M and re-position clip N.
Removal ol locomotive body (Fig. S)
Undo screw l. Slightly lift up front part of footwalk (red bufler beam).
Slide body forward and lift otf rear end in direction of arrow.When
replacing the body, snap in into position by sliding it back.
Replacemenl ol locomorlve bülb (Fig.2)
Use small screw-driver to depress and turn lett contact piece P (Fig.
3). Contact P and bulb can now be Iifted out.
Atlention: pressure spring remains in recess.
On replacement of bulb, depress and turn right.
Accsssory st with coupling ( 3f 261 1 30) to be snapped into the
loco-bogie lrom the kontaccording arrcwT.
