General description
The Otolift Air is designed for curved staircases, to move one person at the rated load
comfortably throughout the journey over the staircase. Drive is by means of a rack and pinion,
driven by an electric motor and powered with rechargeable batteries. The batteries are
charged at the endpoints rail or optional extra charge points. Charging is done with an
integrated charger in the lift. The charger is powered through the charge points, with an
transformer that is connected to an electrical outlet.
The lift can be controlled in two places, an ergonomic control knob on the armrest and the
remote controls. The remote controls will be mounted inline of side of the lift at both endpoints
of the rail. An On/Off switch in the armrest ensures that a person can get on or off the lift
safely at the endpoints.
The lift is also equipped with a rotating seat and seatbelt. The seat always rotates away from
the downside of the staircase, so that the user can safely exit or enter the lift at the top of the
staircase. If the optional electrical rotating seat is installed then the seat can rotate 83° to the
left and right for easy exiting/boarding. On narrow staircases it may be necessary to drive
rotated to avoid obstacles for the head /knees or the footplate.
Safety surfaces ensure that the lift stops when something is obstructing the lift in the
direction of travel, this ensures that the lift can always be moved in the opposite direction to
remove the obstruction.
Warning/identification on the lift
Stickers on the Otolift Air may never be removed or covered by any means. If the stickers have
become unreadable or damaged, they must be replaced.
Improper use

The lift should never be used by under-aged or mentally disadvantaged
people without supervision.

The lift should never be used to transport animals or goods.
•
The lift should only be used as described in this user manual.
•
The lift should only be used to transport one person over the complete journey.
•
The lift should never be used to transport a person heavier than the rated load.
•
The lift should not be used without using the seatbelt(G).
•
The Otolift Air may only be installed or dismantled by Otolift trained personal.
