PCI- SCSI
adapters are automatically
configured by the PCI-
BIOS, which means that
the SCSI host adapter is
assigned a free interrupt
and a free I/O address,
this setting can not be
modified in the device
manager.
After restarting the
system, the SCSI host
adapter as well as the SCSI
devices connected to it are
listed in the Windows
device manager.
2. Summary of DC29160.SYS Command Line Switches
If you want to use the power save function or if problems should arise with special
configurations, different parameters can be transferred to the SCSI driver. To do so,
start the "REGEDT32" programme. The parameters for the SCSI adapter are attained
by successively opening "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", "SYSTEM", "CurrentControlSet"
and "Services". At this stage, open "DC29160" and select "Device" (Windows 2000)
or "Parameters\Device" (WindowsXP). On the right half of the screen an entry appears
with the designation "DriverParameter" together with the current settings. By clicking
on "DriverParameter" a window for parameter modifications can be opened.
/PS=.. specifies the period of time (in minutes) after which inactive drives are to be
turned off.
VI. Installation under Windows NT
1. General Information
Windows NT offers a standardized SCSI interface which enables hardware
specific adaptations to the various SCSI host adapters. This is carried out by the
"DC29160.SYS" driver from the "\WINNT" directory of your installation disk. The
device drivers necessary for operating CD-ROM or removable disk drives have
already been integrated into Windows NT, so that installation is relatively easy due to
the automatic procedure initiated by Windows NT. Windows NT distinguishes
between two types of installation:
- The installation of the SCSI host adapter during the Windows NT installation
in case of your SCSI host adapter being connected to the boot hard drive or
to the CD-ROM drive with your Windows NT installation CD.
