Example:
DEVICE= ...\DC29160.SYS
DEVICE= ...\CDROM.SYS
After installing the CD-ROM driver using the CONFIG.SYS file, the MSDEX
programme must be addressed (typically in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file).
Example:
...\MSCDEX/D:CDROM001
installs MSCDEX for driver "CDROM001"
MSCDEX uses the driver name specified by "/D:" to establish the connection to
the corresponding device driver for CD-ROM drives. Therefore the CD-ROM driver
name passed over to MSCDEX must be identical with the one of CDROM.SYS;
otherwise MSCDEX is unable to communicate with the CD-ROM device driver.
After installing MSDEX you can address the CD-ROM drive, like other drives, via
a drive letter. The CD-ROM driver can be individually configured by additionally
indicating further parameters.

4.1. Summary of CDROM.SYS Command Line Switches

/D=nnnnnnnn The "/D" parameter allows you to define the name of the driver under
which the CD-ROM driver for MSCDEX is addressable. For the name,
up to 8 characters can be used. If no name is specified, the CD-ROM
driver receives the standard name "CDROM001".
/HOST=x
x = CAM host adapter number. Only drives connected to this host
adapter are managed.
/TARGET=y
y= target ID of the SCSI drive. Only drives with this ID are managed.
/UNITS=x
This parameter specifies the number of possible "Logical Units" of a
drive, this is necessary, for instance, for CD-ROM jukeboxes, if not all
the units are to be operated. Possible values are the numbers 1 –8.
Usually, all units available are supported when logical unit support has
been activated in the SCSI set-up.
/SCSI2
The driver exclusively uses the SCSI-2 instruction set. This parameters
causes only SCSI-2 instructions to be used when addressing drives.
However, especially when using audio functions, most drives supply
individual instructions specifically designed by the manufacturer. If the
parameter is not specified, the driver uses the respective instruction set
designed by the manufacturer. Modern drives mostly support both
types of instructions sets, whereas older SCSI-1 drives only support
the instruction set designed by the manufacturer.
/INSTALL
enforces driver installation even if the corresponding device is turned
off (only when specifying the "/TARGET" parameter)
