Before operating the machine,
please note:
When working with the machine, it must be held
with two hands.Always make sure that you have a
safe stance/foothold.
1. The mains voltage must comply with the infor-
mation on the rating plate.
2. The TE705 is double insulated and must not
be grounded/earthed.
3. Do not apply excessive pressure to the TE 705 –
this will not increase its performance. Simply posi-
tion and guide the chisel.
The enclosed list of safety precautions must be
observed.
Fig. 1: Cleaning chisel connection ends
The chuck is not incorporated in the machine's
lubrication system. The connection ends of chisels
and other tools must therefore be cleaned regular-
ly and lubricated sparingly with Hilti grease.
Fig. 4: Side handle
Adjust the side handle as desired and lock it in
position.
Starting time at low temperatures:
The starting time (until hammering action operates)
can be reduced by jolting the chisel once against
the working surface as the machine is switched on.

Operation:

Fig. 2: Inserting a chisel
Pull back the locking sleeve, insert the chisel and ro-
tate it until the guide grooves engage.Push the chis-
el in further against the resistance of the spring-loaded
rollers and release the locking sleeve.
To remove the chisel: Pull back the locking sleeve
and remove the chisel.
Fig. 3: Chisel adjustment

as far as it will go.The chisel is then disengaged (1).
Rotate the chisel into the desired position (2), re-
lease the locking sleeve and the chisel engages in
position (3).
If the TE 705 is held with the chuck pointing
downwards, the chisel may fall out when the
locking sleeve is pulled back.
Fig. 4:
Adjust the side handle to the optimum working
position. Radial and axial adjustment is possible.
Fig. 5: Hammering power regulation
Set the hammering power (symbols:large hammer
symbol j = 100% hammering power,small ham-
mer symbol
j
= 50% hammering power).
Beginning work:
Operate the on/off switch. The machine is ready for
operation.
Servicing:
The TE705 is equipped with a service indicator.
When the indicator lights up, the machine should
be serviced by Hilti. Failure to service the ma-
chine when indicated could result in expen-
sive consequential damage. Electric tools must
comply with the applicable safety regulations.
Servicing, therefore, must be carried out only by
qualified electrical specialists. The use of original
Hilti parts ensures optimum safety.
Chisel maintenance:
Resharpening
When resharpening wide-flat, narrow-flat
and pointed chisels which are not badly worn
at the cutting edge, take care to avoid over-
heating the surface (no discoloration!).
Resharpening limit: length of 70 mm from
the tip.
Pointed and narrow-flat chisels
Reforge the chisel at about 1050°C to
1150°C (bright yellowish red–yellow).
Afterwards, cool down to room temperature
in air.
Forging and quenching the chisel in this way
is all that is required.
No further hardening and tempering is nec-
essary.
Wide-flat chisel
As the cross-section of a worn wide-flat chis-
el is not sufficient for reforging, these chisels
should not be reforged but only resharp-
ened (ground). The blade is long enough to
be resharpened several times.
