Functionality
Occupancy detection indoors.
The INSTABUS ARGUS Presence devices detect small movements in the
room within a radius of approx. 6 m (fitted at a height of 2.5 m) and send
data telegrams via the INSTABUS EIB system. For example, the devices
switch on the lighting in the room until no more motion is detected or there
is a sufficient quantity of natural light.
The devices are intended for use in e.g. offices, schools, public buildings or
private homes. The light-dependent motion sensors constantly test the light
in the room, turning off the actuator for the artificial lighting if there is
sufficient natural light, whether or not a person is present. The reaction time
can be adjusted via ETS. Registered movements are evaluated by the
application chosen in ETS. The integrated light sensor constantly measures
the light in the room and the application processes this information.
The functioning of the infrared receiver (only for article no. 630591) is also
determined by the application. With the infrared remote controller Distance
2010 or 2050 programmable (article no.: 570222; 570722) you can operate
the device by remote control. A maximum of 10 channels (pushbuttons 1 to
10) can be controlled.
Thanks to its constant light regulation function, the INSTABUS ARGUS
Presence is continually able to ensure the correct level of lighting which has
been set in ETS. The device calculates this amount from the level of
daylight and the level of artificial light. The light is kept at a constant level by
dimming the artificial light. If no movement is detected or the daylight is
sufficient on its own, the device switches off the light.

The sensitivity and scope of coverage of the device is reduced the higher
up it is installed. A high level of sensitivity is not required for certain applica-
tions (e.g. in store rooms, corridors, sports halls, etc.).

Interior monitoring range:
When a person is seated, the rela-
tive motion towards the ARGUS
Presence is minor. The smaller the
distance between the monitored
person and the ARGUS Presence
the more effectively minor move-
ments can be detected.
Exterior monitoring range:
When a person is walking, this
gives rise to a greater monitoring
range. The reference plane for the
