Specific warning
• Avoid repeated intracerebral catheter im-
plantations: Frequent brain perforations to
permit catheter insertions may predispose
to intracerebral oedema and haemorrha-
ge which can lead to a rise in intracranial
pressure.
• The intracranial screw is made from a high
performance polymer material, which has
advantages over metal when used in ima-
ging processes. The user must ensure that
the polymer screw is not subjected to any
great lateral force, especially impacts.
• Do not use excessive force when turning
the intracranial screw.
• The BOLT screw has a mechanical stop
that allows it to be screwed in up to 8 mm
(BOLT CH5) or 8.5 mm (CH9). The depth of
insertion for secure fixation and application
of the BOLT screw in the cranium is up to
the physician in charge.
• When using the CH 5 RAUMEDIC
(-DRILL) KIT, only catheters with an outer
diameter of CH 5 should be used.
• When using the CH 9 RAUMEDIC
(-DRILL) KIT, only catheters with an outer
diameter of CH 9 should be used.

• When using the RAUMEDIC
PTO 2L with a microdialysis catheter, the
instructions for use of the MD system must
also be observed.
• Only the catheters NEUROVENT
and NEUROVENT with sleeve housing

may be used with RAUMEDIC
DRILL KIT VP 16 and the fixing cap must
always be closed up to the stop hereby.
• After application, check that the measure-
ment system used with the RAUMEDIC
BOLT KIT is functioning correctly.
• Measurements should only be taken if the
screw is firmly in place.
• Warning: once a system is implanted, a re-
placement system should always be availa-
ble should the need arise.
• Due to the increased risk of infection with
longer applications, a change after 5 days
and no later than 10 days is recommended.
It is up to the user to assess the risk of in-
fection if using the RAUMEDIC
for longer periods.
