Part names and function overview

Part names and function
overview
1. MAIN VOLUME knob
This adjusts the volume of the main L/R audio outputs, as
well as the volume of the headphone jack.
It does not affect any of the other outputs, including S/P
DIF, individual outputs 1–4, or the USB output.
2. Control Surface
You can use it in a variety of ways, such as editing sounds,
controlling KARMA, mixing, or sending MIDI messages to
external MIDI devices.
CONTROL ASSIGN buttons
The control surface has various buttons for switching
between different functions. Use the knobs, buttons and slid-
ers to the right of the buttons to control the functions that are
configured for each CONTROL ASSIGN button.
TIMBRE/TRACK
The TIMBRE/TRACK controls are used to adjust the vol-
ume, pan, EQ and send levels for the oscillators, timbres,
tracks and so forth.
In Combination and Sequencer mode, this switches between
timbre/MIDI tracks 1–8 and 9–16.
AUDIO
AUDIO lets you use the control surface to adjust the vol-
ume, play/mute status, solo, pan, and send levels of the ana-
log, S/P DIF, and USB inputs.
EXT
EXT (External) lets you use the control surface to transmit
MIDI messages to external MIDI devices.
RT KNOBS/KARMA
RT KNOBS/KARMA lets you modulate sounds and effects with
the knobs, and control KARMA with the sliders and switches.
TONE ADJ/EQ
TONE ADJ (Tone Adjust) gives you hands-on access to
sound editing, using the sliders, knobs, and switches.
EQ is available only in Set Lists.
MIXER KNOBS button
This applies only when CONTROL ASSIGN is set to TIM-
BRE/TRACK or AUDIO. This button toggles between
using the CHANNEL STRIP setting, which uses knobs to
control the pan, EQ, send and so forth for each channel; and
the INDIVIDUAL PAN setting, which uses each knob to
control the pan for the eight channels.

This feature lets you reset the Vector Joystick to the center
position, or reset any of the Control Surface sliders, knobs,

TIMBRE/TRACK or AUDIO. Use the MIX SELECT 1/9–
8/16 buttons to select the channels you want to solo.

0–9, −, ., and ENTER buttons
Use the 0–9, −, and decimal (.) buttons to enter the value, and
then press the ENTER button to confirm the entry.
ENTER is also used for a number of shortcut commands,
described throughout this guide (see "Shortcuts" in the OG).
4. TouchView Display
The KRONOS features Korg's exclusive TouchView
graphic interface, based on a touch-panel LCD screen.
5. KARMA buttons
ON/OFF button
This turns KARMA on and off.
LATCH button
When LATCH is turned on, KARMA continues to play patterns
or phrases even after you've taken your fingers off the keyboard.
MODULE CONTROL button
When used to control KARMA, the Control Surface sliders
and switches are four layers deep: one for each Module (A–
D), and then a Master Layer which controls selected param-
eters from all of the Modules at once. The MODULE CON-
TROL button selects whether the KARMA Sliders,
Switches, and Scenes will control either a single Module
independently, or the Master Layer. Note that Modules A–D
can only be selected for Combinations and Sequencer.
6. Drum Track
DRUM TRACK button
Turns the drum track on/off.
