To use the trimmer as a router, install it on the plunge base
(FIG. 20) by pressing it all the way down, making sure the small
pin on the base aligns with the slot on the trimmer.
16.1 ADJUSTING THE DEPTH OF CUT
WHEN USING THE PLUNGE BASE (FIG. 21)
Always hold the tool firmly by both grips during operation.
--- --- ---
•
Place the tool on a flat surface. Loosen the lock lever and
lower the tool body until the bit just touches the flat sur-
face. Tighten the lock lever to lock the trimmer body.
•
Turn the stopper bar knob counterclockwise. Push the
fast-feed button and lower the stopper bar until it makes
contact with the turret stops presetting. Align the depth
pointer with the "0" of the scale.
•
While pressing the fast-feed button, raise the stopper bar
until the desired depth of cut is obtained on scale.
Micro adjustments can be obtained by turning the micro
adjusting knob (1 mm increments).
By turning the stopper bar knob clockwise, you can fasten
the stopper bar firmly.
•
Now, your predetermined depth of cut can be obtained by
loosening the locking lever and then lowering the trimmer
body until the stopper bar makes contact with the turret
stops.
•
Set the trimmer base on the workpiece to be cut without
the bit making any contact.
Then turn the tool on and wait until the bit reaches full
speed.
Move the tool forward over the workpiece surface, keeping
the trimmer base flush and advancing smoothly until the
cutting is complete.
•
When edge cutting, the workpiece surface should be on
the left side of the bit in the feed direction (FIG. 8).
•
When using the straight guide or the trimmer guide, be
sure to keep it on the right side in the feed direction. This
will help to keep it flush with the side of the workpiece
(FIG. 9).
NOTE:
Moving the tool forward too quickly may cause a poor quality of
cut, or damage to the bit or motor.
Moving the tool forward too slowly may burn and mar the cut.
The proper feed rate will depend on the bit size, the kind of
workpiece and depth of cut.
Before beginning the cut on the actual workpiece, it is advis-
able to make a sample cut on a test piece.
This will show exactly how the cut will look as well as enable you
to check dimensions.
16.2 - STRAIGHT GUIDE + GUIDE SUPPORT
(FIG. 22)
The straight guide is effectively used for straight cuts when
chamfering or grooving.
Attach the straight guide to the guide support (optional acces-
sory) using wing nut 1.

CAUTION:
Insert the guide support into the holes on the plunge base and
tighten the wing bolts to secure it.
To adjust the distance between the bit and the straight guide,
loosen wing nut 2. Once the desired distance is set, tighten
wing nut 2 to lock the guide firmly in place.
17 - TEMPLATE GUIDE KIT
OPTIONAL ACCESSORY
The template guide kit CMT-TGA includes 7 bushings that guide
the bit, allowing the trimmer to be used with template patterns
(FIG. 23).
To install the template guide, loosen the screws on the trimmer
base, insert the template guide and tighten with the lock nut.
Then tighten the screws on base (FIG. 24).
Secure the template to the workpiece. Position the trimmer on
the template and move it by sliding the guide along the edge of
the template (FIG. 25).
NOTE:
The workpiece will be cut slightly smaller than the template.
Take into account the distance (X) between the bit and the
outer edge of the template guide.
This distance (X) can be calculated using the following formula:
(X) = (outer diameter of the template guide - bit diameter) / 2.
18 - DUST NOZZLE
FOR THE TRIMMER BASE
Use the dust nozzle for dust extraction.
Install the nozzle onto the trimmer base using the screw
(FIG. 6), ensuring that the protrusion on the nozzle fits into the
notch on the trimmer base.
Then, connect a vacuum cleaner to the dust nozzle.
MAINTENANCE
Ensure that the trimmer is always switched off and unplugged
before adjusting or carrying out any adjustments or mainte-
nance on the tool.
Never use gasoline, benzine, solvents, alcohol or similar
liquids to clean the tool. Discoloration, deformation or cracks
may result.

REPLACING CARBON BRUSHES
Regularly remove and inspect the carbon brushes.
Replace them if worn down to the wear limit mark.
Always keep the carbon brushes clean and ensure they slide
easily into the brush holders.
Both brushes must be replaced at the same time and only
identical carbon brushes should be used (FIG. 26). Use only
genuine CMT replacement parts.
Use a screwdriver to remove the brush holder caps. Take out the
worn carbon brushes, insert the new ones and secure the brush
holder caps (FIG. 27).
