5.1 Installation of the counter in the front
panel
Attention
Check that all corresponding equipment is "dead"
during the installation of the counter and secure the
equipment against accidental activation during
installation!
Installation is to be executed in accordance with applicable
safety regulations and may only be carried out by trained
personnel!
Danger
Operating and connected voltages may be up to 100 .. 240 V
AC ~!
• Slide the installation frame towards the rear and off the counter.
Lift the two catch springs slightly during this procedure.
• Turn both screws of the installation frame back by approx. 5 mm.
• Insert the counter into the installation opening from the front.
• Slide the installation frame over the counter from the rear.
• Press the front part of the counter and the installation frame from
the rear against the front panel until the catch springs of the
installation frame snaps into place.
• Turn both screws in towards the front panel until the counter is
secured.
Check the following items before the connection cable and the power
supply are connected:
• Does the supply voltage correspond to the voltage stated on the
counter?
• Will the max. counting frequency not be exceeded?
• Are the amplitude levels for the voltage pulse generation correct?
• Are the switches set properly according to the specific application?
• Connect the connection cables and the supply lines to the
corresponding connection terminals.
• Check for proper fit of the connected cables!
• Check for proper fit of the connection terminals in the
counter!
• Close the front panel/equipment unit.
• Switch the power supply on.
The counter is now ready for operation!
The display shows the count reached either during the manufacturer's
test run or during operation at the customers premises.

Programming

Important note
The following description explains the general operation of
the counter.
If your counter should not act as described during programming (e.g.
if the preset value cannot be modified) this is most likely the result of
a corresponding switch setting or of potentials which may be present
at the inputs.
Change the settings/potentials for programming if required.
The counter is programmed in two ways:
1. by setting the switches of the in-line switch strip and the poten-
tiometer and
2. by programming with the keys on the front of the counter.
20/24
The settings of the switches and the potentiometer already carried
out in Chapter 4 define equipment or machine-specific parameters.
Usually these settings are required only before initial operation or in
case of modifications of the equipment or the machines.
The keys provide easy access to numerical values which may be sub-
ject to change more often.

The menu is always entered
at P (preset).
Press key "E" briefly to move from one menu item to the next. Each
menu item selected is shown by an indicator (flashing LED) in line 2
together with the corresponding numerical value in line 1.
The display shows the preset value programmed last. The last (right
margin) digit flashes. If you do not press any of keys
play will return automatically to the current count value.
• Press key
until this digit shows the desired value.
• Press key
- the second digit from the right flashes.
• Press key
again until this digit shows the desired value.
• Repeat this procedure until the preset value is programmed.
If you have made a mistake during the entry of the preset value, you
can re-select the digit to be corrected and repeat the procedure de-
scribed above.
If you want to retain a menu item, press key "E" without pressing key
first.
After having selected all menu items with key "E", you can return to
the indication mode of the counter by pressing key "E" once more.

7. Functions of the menu items

Preset P
• Output OUT responds when counting pulses establish coinciding
values for counter and preset value
• The counter is set or reset depending on the corresponding switch
positions/input signals.
P2
Preset P 1
• Output OUT1 responds when counting pulses establish coinciding
values for counter and preset value 1. If the output signal of OUT1
is, for example, to be used as a pilot signal, the preset value P1
must be smaller than preset value P2!
Preset P 2
• Output OUT2 responds when counting pulses establish coinciding
values for counter and preset value P2
