4.4.2 Input functions

The active level/edge of the inputs depends on the position of switch
1 (pnp-Input/npn).

Count input (Input)
The count input (terminal 11) is controlled by the active edge
Max. counting frequency is 5 kHz. Commercial electronic pulse
generators (high level > 8 V, npn/pnp output) may be used as well as
potential-free switches in conjunction with the proper voltage. The
level must not exceed 40 V!
Reset input (Reset)
Depending on the position of switch 9, the count is either set or reset
by feeding an active level to the reset input (terminal 12).
Note
• As long as an active signal is supplied to terminal 12 the
correction value cannot be modified via keyboard!
• The setting/resetting characteristic of the counter is static, i. e.,
incoming pulses will not be counted as long as the reset input is
activated.
Outputs OUT1 and OUT2 are deleted by a keypad reset or external
reset.
Remainder values resulting from the multiplication with the prescaler
value which are not indicated are deleted during each reset.
Application Input (Appl.)
The application input (terminal 13) can be used for three different
functions.
• Find the Item No. of your counter on the type plate of the
appliance.
• Determine the function defined by the Item No. from the table at
the end of this chapter.
0 721 101 ... 110
Gate (Inhibit)
Depending on the position of switch 2 the count input (terminal
11) will be disabled (switch position ON) or enabled (switch posi-
tion OFF) by feeding the active level to the gate input (terminal
13).
This function allows the counting operation to be specifically in-
terrupted when continuous count pulses are present at the
count input.
