• If you input the wrong hour, minutes or seconds (time calculations) but have
not yet pressed 3,
just input the correct values.
• If you input a wrong time calculation value and press 3,
pletely clear the time input and start again from the beginning.

Error
Indicator
The error indicator
"E" appears on the display whenever any of the following
conditions exist. To clear an error, press
the calculation,
or C to clear the entire calculation.
• Whenever the integer part (the value to the left of the decimal point) of a cal-
culation's intermediate result or final result becomes greater than 12 digits
(10 digits with the SL-IOOOL). Along with the error indicator, an approxima-
tion of the value appears on the display. The following table illustrates the
value that appears when you attempt to perform the calculation:

SL-IOOOL
• Whenever the integer part of the value stored in independent memory or grand
total memory is greater than 12 digits (10 digits with the SL-IOOOL). At this
time, the display shows "O." , but the memory retains the value it had before

occurred.

3/Power
Supply
The Two-Way Power System of this calculator uses a solar cell, in addition to
one button type battery (LR43). Unlike calculators equipped with a solar cell
only, you can use this calculator under virtually any lighting conditions, as long
as there is enough light for you to read the display.
Battery
Replacement
If the display becomes dim and difficult to read or if nothing appears on the
display when you press ONE (especially when lighting is dim), you probably
need to replace the battery.
To replace
the battery
I . Remove
the screw on the back of the calculator
2. Remove the old battery.
3. Wipe the surfaces of a new battery with a dry cloth, and load it into the cal-
WOS
culator making sure the plus (+) side is facing up (so you can see it).
4. Taking care to make sure that the tabs align properly-with their slots, replace
the back cover. Secure the cover in place with the screw.
• In order to avoid damage caused by leaking battery fluid, be sure to replace
the battery at least once every three years.
• The battery installed at the factory discharges during shipment and storage.
You may need to replace the original battery sooner than three years after
you purchase
the calculator.
• Even if the battery goes dead, you can still use the calculator under solar power.
Remember, however, that memory contents will be cleared if available light
drops below a certain level while there is no battery power.
Important
Battery Precautions
Incorrectly using batteries can cause them to burst or leak, possibly damaging
the interior of the unit. Note the following
• Be sure that the positive (+) and negative (—) poles of the battery are facing
in the proper direction.
• Never leave a dead battery in the battery compartment. A dead battery can
leak and damage the calculator if left in the battery compartment for long
periods.
• Remove the battery if you do not plan to use the unit for long periods.
• Never try to recharge the battery supplied
• Do not expose batteries to direct heat, let them become shorted, or try to take
them apart.
Keep batteries out of the reach of small children. If swallowed, consult with
a physician immediately,
