3/ Power
The Two-Way Power System of this calculator uses a solar cell, in addition to one
LR44button type battery. Unlike calculatorsequipped with a solar cell only, you can
use this calculator under virtually any lighting conditions, as long as there is enough
light for you to read the display.
Battery Replacement
If the display becomes dim and difficult to read or if nothing appears on the display
when you press ONC (especially when lighting is dim), you probably need to replace
the battery.

I. Remove the screws on the back of the calculator
2. Remove the old battery.
3. Wipe the surfaces of a new battery with a dry cloth, and load it into the calculator
making sure the plus (+) side is facing up (so you can see it).
4. Taking care to make sure that the tabs align properly with their slots, replacethe
back cover. Secure the cover in place with the screws.

Incorrectly using batteries can cause them to burst or leak, possibly damaging the

• Be sure that the positive (+) and negative (—) poles of the battery are facing in
the proper direction.

• Remove the battery if you do not plan to use the unit for long periods.
• Never try to recharge the battery supplied with the unit.
• Do not expose batteries to direct heat, let them become shorted, or try to take them

Keep batteries out of the reach of small children. If swallowed, consult with a
physician immediately.
• Auto Power
This calculator is not equipped with an OFF switch. Instead, it switches power off au-
tomatically about six minutes after the last key operation is performed. To restore
power, press ONE . Even if the Auto Power Off function operates to clear the arith-
metic result memory, the contents of the independent memory are not cleared.
