About originals
The CD-4050/4050N can accept a wide variety of originals sizes, from business card and per-
sonal checks to legal size. The ranges of width and length for an original are listed below:
Width
Length
Thickness : auto feed 0.06 to 0.15 mm
Follow these guidelines when you prepare an original for scanning.
To avoid paper jams, all the originals in a batch should be of the same size, width and paper
thickness.
Originals whose ink has not yet dried may cause malfunction. Make sure that ink has dried
before the original is scanned.
Graphite from the surface of an original written in pencil may stain the scanning rollers.
After scanning an original written in pencil or some other sort writing material, be sure to
clean the scanning rollers.
When you make double-sided copies from thin paper originals, the rear side of the original
sometimes shows through to the front side. In this case, adjust the scanning density.
To avoid paper jams, do not feed the following types of paper into the unit. Make a copy of
such originals for scanning.
