16. Troubleshooting
The following table shows fault symptoms and describes remedial measures in the event of your machine failing to work
properly. If you cannot localise and rectify the problem with this, please contact your service workshop.
Fault
Motor does not start.
Engine runs erratically.
Motor is overheated.
Engine does not stop when
throttle is in stop position
or engine speed does not
increase properly when
throttle is moved.
The plate vibrator is difficult
to control during operation
(machine bounces or moves
forward abruptly).
No compacting function or
the plate compactor does not
reach the maximum speed.
Oil loss from the engine or
the exciter.
Possible cause
Spark plug cable not connected.
No petrol or stale petrol.
Throttle not in the correct start
position.
Fuel valve not in the ON position.
Blocked fuel line.
Oiled spark plug.
Engine overfilled.
Spark plug cable loose.
Device runs in the CHOKE position.
Blocked fuel line or stale petrol.
Air vent blocked.
Water or contamination in the fuel
system.
Contaminated air filter.
Contaminated air filter.
Restricted airflow.
Deposits in throttle connections.
Pull cord damaged.
Engine speed too high on hard
ground.
Shock absorber too loose or
damaged.
Damage to the exciter or plate
compactor.
Drive belt too loose and slipping.
Worn seals.
Leaks on the housing.

Remedy
Connect the spark plug cable securely to the
spark plug.
Fill with clean, new petrol.
Set the throttle to the Start position.
Open the fuel valve.
Clean the fuel lines.
Clean the spark plug, set the gap or replace.
Wait a few minutes before re-starting but do
not pre-pump.
Connect the spark plug cable and secure it.
Set the choke lever to the OFF position.
Clean the fuel lines. Fill the tank with clean,
new petrol.
Clean the air vent.
Drain the petrol from the tank. Top up with new
petrol.
Clean or replace the air filter.
Clean the air filter.
Clean the engine of the plate vibrator.
Remove dirt and debris.
Contact specialist dealer.
Set a lower speed with the throttle.
Contact specialist dealer.
Contact specialist dealer.
Adjust or replace the drive belt.
Contact specialist dealer.
