3. Installation

3.1 General
● Mount v ertically on a non-f lammable surf ace, with the power
terminals f acing downwards.
● Mount close to the battery , but nev er directly abov e the battery
(in order to prev ent damage due to gassing of the battery ).
● Use cables with at least 10 mm² or AWG6 cross section. The
recommended maximum length of the cable is 5 m, in order to
restrict cable loss.
(if the cables to the PV panels must be longer than 5 m, increase
cross section or use parallel cables and install a junction box next
to the controller and connect with a short 10 mm² or AWG6 cable
to the controller).
● Grounding: the heatsink of the controller should be connected
to the grounding point.
3.2 PV configuration
● The controller will operate only if the PV v oltage exceeds
battery v oltage (Vbat).
● PV v oltage must exceed Vbat + 5V f or the controller to start.
Thereaf ter minimum PV v oltage is Vbat + 1V.
● Maximum open circuit PV v oltage: 150V.
The controller can be used with any PV conf iguration that
satisf ies the three abov e mentioned conditions.
For example:
24V battery and mono- or poly cristalline panels
● Minimum number of cells in series: 72 (2x 12V panel in series
or one 24V panel).
● Recommended number of cells f or highest controller ef f iciency:
144 cells (4x 12V panel or 2x 24V panel in series).
● Maximum: 216 cells (6x 12V or 3x 24V panel in series).
