You can select the FM station by pressing one of the FM preset channel switches 69 .
(When all FM preset channel switches 69 and FM manual tuning switch are set to the
"1" positions, reception is not possible.)
. Adjust the antenna (aerial).
FM reception: Extend the Telescopic antennas (aerials) () to its full length. Change
antenna (aerial) directions to obtain the best reception.
When the broadcast is received in a strong signal area with the antennas extended, the fre-
quency display may be incorrect. So, please use the unit in such an area with the antennas
shortened.
After tuning to an FM station set the AFC switch to "ON".
AFC (Automatic Frequency Control) circuit prevents drifting from the properly tuned-in FM
station. For reception of a weak signal located near a strong signal station, set the AFC switch
to "OFF".
Note: When presetting an FM broadcast station, set this switch to OFF and correctly tune to
the station, and then set the switch to ON.

Indicator (8) does not light even if the station is broadcasting a stereo program when Mode
switch is set to "MONO",
If the Stereo indicator light should go off later, the station is no longer transmitting a stereo pro-
gram, therefore change the Mode switch 44) to "MONO".
When an FM stereo signal is too weak or noisy for enjoyable stereo listening, set the Mode
switch to "MONO".
* In the area comparatively near the broadcasting station, the telescopic antenna is
sufficient. In areas where the signals are weak, however, connect an FM feeder antenna to
the FM external antenna sockets and spread it on the ceiling or wall, aligning the horizontal
section of the antenna for optimum reception.
* In areas with very weak signal, install an exclusive FM antenna and connect it to the FM ex-
ternal antenna sockets.
SW reception: Extend the rear telescopic antenna (aerial) to its full length.
MW/LW reception: The built-in ferrite-core antenna (aerial) ensures good reception under
normal conditions. Rotate the unit and find the position in which the best reception is ob-
tained.
6. Adjust the Volume, Treble, Bass and Balance controls (0) , @, @8 and @.
7. To turn the radio off, set the Power switch (2 to "(ly)".
FM mute switch
When receiving FM broadcasts, unpleasant interstation noise may be heard when tuning. This
noise can be cut out by setting the FM mute switch to "ON".

lf the input signal is weak, as in an area where the signal strength is low, and if the FM mute
switch is set to ''ON'', the broadcast may not be picked up. in this case set this switch to
"OFF".
