Maximum Pressure of High Pressure Pump Test
For testing the maximum pressure of the high pressure pump, select suitable hose (M12x1.5 or M14x1.5) and
connect manometer to the output of high pressure pump. Pay attention to torque information supplied by
vehicle manufacturer. Use screw cap to close off the other end of the manometer.
Connect waste collection bottle with hose below the manometer, as shown in fig. 3
Activate the starter and at the same time read measurement value from manometer. Compare value with
maximum pressure according to vehicle manufacturer (usually > 1050 bar).
If maximum pressure is not reached, either high pressure pump or pressure sensor is malfunctioning.
Accessory set No. 3351 is required to identify if high pressure pump or pressure sensor is damaged.
Set No. 3351 contains various test adapters, which work like a pressure sensor in full load position.
Remove pressure sensor from high pressure pump and replace with suitable adapter from No. 3351.
Pay attention to torque information supplied by vehicle manufacturer.
Never test for maximum pressure with test adapters if rail is still connected.
This will lead to engine damage
Repeat test for maximum pressure.
If maximum pressure is reached, then the pressure sensor is malfunctioning.
If maximum pressure is not reached, then the high pressure pump is malfunctioning.
If possible, always compare measured results with digital measurements from the on board diagnostics (OBD)
to identify faulty sensors etc.

Never disconnect high pressure fuel lines under pressure!
