KVQ feedback terminals 35 and 36
To be connected to terminals 6 and 8.
Connection of outputs
See fig. 8
External alarm
See "Function extensions".
Defrost output
Supply voltage from the EKS 67. Max. load
1.0 A, 24 V a.c. To be connected to terminals
24 and 25.
KVQ power terminals 77 - 78
To be connected to terminals 26 and 27. The
cable dimension, between actuator power
terminals and regulator, is determined by the
length of the cable and its resistance. See
manual.
Voltage to the actuator must only be supplied
from the EKS 67 controller.
Before connecting the regulator, check all
lead connections. See fig. 18.
Warning! Incorrect connection can damage
the regulator.
Setting
Defrost
See fig. 14 and 15
The changeover between electric and hot-gas
defrosting can be performed using the switch
on the rear of the EKS 67 (fig. 10).
Electric defrost = Position 1
Hot-gas defrost = Position 2
With hot-gas defrosting, the EKS 67 ensures
forced closing of the KVQ before defrost is
begun. With electric defrosting, no previous
closing of the KVQ valve occurs before
defrosting begins.
Defrosting is stopped by the built-in
thermostat function via S2 signal. At the same
time the ALARM DELAY is set on zero.
Temperature setting
See figs. 9 and 11
Set the required reference temperature on
switch REF (item 14) and potentiometer REF
(item 15).
The figure shows a temperature setting of
-9°C. Setting switch REF on -10°C and poten-
tiometer REF on +1°C gives a temperature:
-10°C + (+1°C) = -9°C
Note: Switch REF must not be set halfway
between two steps of 10°C.
Function extensions
External alarm
There are facilities for connecting an external
alarm relay.
The connection must be made using
terminals 22-23, fig. 8.
Max. load 0.5 A, 24 V a.c.
On alarm the voltage drops to 10 V a.c.
Remote setting
It is possible to establish remote setting of
reference temperature. See manual.
Temperature readout - external display
A display for reading temperatures T
and T
can be connected. See manual.
REF
The display cannot be supplied with power
from the EKS 67.
Limitation of evaporating pressure
can be obtained by connecting a
potentiometer to the EKS 67. It will then be
possible to make a variable downward
limitation of evaporating pressure P
bar. See manual.
Light indication
There are three LED lamps on the front panel
of the unit.
Green ON/ALARM lamp
ON = constant light indicates: System
running. Alarm not released
Lamp out indicates: Alarm signal on alarm
output
Red LlMlT lamp
Light indicates: Sensor temperature T
outside the set alarm limit
Red DEFROST lamp
Light indicates: Defrost in operation

6. DEFROST START for forced defrosting of

ing the input to 0 for at least 2 seconds.
Running-in
During running-in of the KVQ + EKS 67 the
plant must be made to operate stably. Only
the KVQ + EKS 67 must be able to alter the
balance of the plant. Fans, etc. must therefore
not be cut in and cut out.
1. Adjust the thermostatic expansion valve to
minimum stable superheat
2. Connect the EKS 67 and set the required
reference temperature (temperature of
medium) on the REF switch and REF
potentiometer
3. Measure media sensor temperature T
The measurement must be taken between
test point T
S1
If necessary, the media sensor
temperature can be registered by a line
recorder connected to terminals 11-13.
If the system hunts, by registering the period
time of the hunting it is possible to determine
whether it is the proportional amplification, K
that is too high or the integration time, T
is too short.
Hunting can then be reduced by making
