The use of any accessory with this tool not provided or specified by Sioux Tools can perform unpredictably.
Use only accessories provided or specified by Sioux Tools.
Tools that perform unpredictably can cause injury.
Modifications to the grinder can effect tool performance and safety.
Do not modify the grinder. Do not operate the grinder if it has been modified or damaged. Periodically inspect grinder for
damage and to ensure all safety markings are legible. Do not discard the safety instructions; give them to the operator.
Damaged or modified grinders can cause injury.
Be aware of workplace hazards.
Be aware of slippery surfaces caused by the use of the grinder. Avoid trip hazards caused by the air line. Proceed with care in
unfamiliar surroundings.
Workplace hazards can cause injury.
Be aware of hazards of operating the tool.
Operators and maintenance personnel shall be able to handle the bulk, weight, and power of the tool. The user shall contact the
manufacturer to obtain replacement marking labels when necessary. When cutting off, the workpiece shall be supported that the
slot is kept at constant or increasing width during the complete operation. If the abrasive product becomes jammed in a cut slot,
shut off the grinder and ease the wheel free. Check that the wheel is still correctly secured and not damaged before continuing.
Grinding wheels and cutting-off wheels shall not be used for side grinding.
Tools shall be periodically inspected to ensure ratings and markings are legible.
When disposing of a tool, do it in a way that does not harm personnel or the environment.
INTENDED USE
This right angle grinder is designed to be used with reinforced resin bonded depressed center grinding wheels that have a permitted rotational speed in
excess of 12,000 RPM. The tool is designed to be used for light grinding and dressing of welds, etc., but not for cutting off. The grinder must never be used if
a wheel guard (disc guard) is not fitted.
AIR SUPPLY
The efficiency and life of this tool depend on the proper supply of clean, dry air at a maximum of 90 PSI. The use of an air line filter, pressure regulator, and
lubricator is recommended. Before connecting to tools, blow out the air line to remove water and dirt that may have accumulated.
HOSE AND HOSE CONNECTIONS
The air supply hose recommended is 3/8" (10mm) I.D. If an extension hose is necessary, use 1/2" (13mm) ID hose with couplings not less than 3/8" (10mm) I.D.
LUBRICATION
All models may operate without airline lubrication. However, operating the tool without airline lubrication may reduce tool performance and vane life. If an airline
lubrication is not used, it is recommended that the tool be oiled daily before use to improve performance. Add 2-4 drops of air motor oil and run the tool for
10-20 seconds to distribute oil through the tool. For maximum performance and tool life, an air line lubricator, set to deliver 2 drops per minute, is recommended.
SIOUX No. 288 Air Motor Oil is recommended.
For Angle Head
Lubricate the angle head assembly with 2 shots of SIOUX #1232A grease every 8 working hours.
MAINTENANCE
Water, dust and other airline contaminants can cause rust and vane sticking. For long periods between tool use, flush the tool with a few drops of oil and run
for 10 seconds. This will help remove contaminants and reduce the formation of rust. Periodically check the speed and vibration of the grinder. If the speed
exceeds the nameplate speed, have grinder repaired. Verify all safety markings are legible. Inspect spindle threads, clamping devices and abrasive location
features for wear. If wear is present, replace components.
OPERATION
The tool is equipped with a locking type lever in order to prevent accidental start-up. Speed of the tool may be adjusted by turning the regulator, which is located
opposite the throttle lever.
INSTALLING GRINDING WHEELS
Place Wheel Flange and wheel on spindle. Thread Wheel Retainer onto spindle. Tightened Wheel Retainer with enclosed spanner wrench while holding
spindle with enclosed open end wrench. Tighten Wheel retainer to a maximum of 120 in-lb.
REMOVING GRINDING WHEELS
Unthread Wheel Retainer and remove wheel.
