eneral notes on safety
This operation manual is applicable for the multiple spin-
dle heads of the MHF series.
The partly completed machinery may only be han-
dled by personnel who are qualified.
1.2 u
se of the machine for purposes for
which it is intenDeD
The multiple spindle head are intended for all machining
operations requiring axial force and torque such as drill-
ing, countersinking and tapping. They are especially suit-
able for plant engineering.
1.3 i
ncorrect use
All uses other than those described under section
1.2 are regarded as incorrect use and are there-
fore not admissible.
1.4 D

afety instructions to Be oBserVeD on
commissioning
When the multiple spindle head is installed
on a machine, disconnect the machine
from the power supply and secure it
against reactivation before any work on the multiple spin-
dle head.
Check the oil level before startup. To do so, hold the mul-
tiple spindle head in the vertical position so that it rests on
the spindles, and check that the oil level is at the centre of
the inspection glass.

The installation must be provided in such a way that the
tool change can be carried out without danger and all
necessary maintenance work can be carried out.
2.2 a
ssemBly instructions
A suitable adapter must be used to secure the
multiple spindle head in the axial direction on the
machine and to prevent it from twisting.

2.3.1 i
nserting the collet chuck type
Choose the collet chuck matching the drill diameter.
Introduce the collet chuck under an angle into the clamp-
ing nut. The eccentric on the clamping nut must then en-
gage in the collet chuck groove. This eccentric is used to
draw the collet chuck out of the spindle cone when the
clamping nut is unscrewed.
Insert the collet chuck into the spindle, and tighten it with
the collet wrench. In doing so, hold the spindle firmly in
place with the flat wrench.
