To install blades and trimmer heads
WARNING:
guard for the blades. See
on page 29 . A damaged guard can cause
injury.
WARNING:
with a grass blade, first install the correct
handlebar, blade guard and harness .
WARNING:
blades correctly, it can cause injury.
1. Make sure that the lifted section on the drive disc/
support flange engages correctly in the center hole
of the blades.
2. Install the blades. (Fig. 41)
To attach and remove the guard extension
The guard extension is used on the cutting attachment
guard. Attach the guard extension when you use a
trimmer head or plastic blades. Remove the extension
guard when you use a grass blade.
• Put the guide on the guard extension into the slot
on the cutting attachment guard. Lock the 4 locking
hooks into position. (Fig. 42)
• Release the locking hooks with a screwdriver to
remove the guard extension. (Fig. 43)
To install the blade guard
CAUTION:

1. Remove the bracket (H).
2. Attach the adapter (I) and bracket (J) with the 2
screws (K).
3. Attach the blade guard (A) to the adapter with the 4
screws (L). (Fig. 44)
To install the saw blade
WARNING:
around the saw blade nut. Make sure that
the blade guard is correctly installed. Always
use protective gloves.
1. Attach the drive disc (B) to the output shaft.
2. Turn the blade shaft until one of the holes in the
drive disc aligns with the hole in the gear housing.
3. Put the locking pin or hex key (C) in the hole to lock
the shaft.

4. Install the saw blade (D) and the support flange (F)
to the output shaft.
5. Install the saw blade nut (G).
Note:
The saw blade nut has a left hand thread.
6. Turn the socket wrench counterclockwise to tighten
the locknut. Make sure that the torque of the locknut
is 35-50 Nm (3.5-5 kpm). Hold the shaft of the socket
wrench as near the blade guard as possible. (Fig.
45)
a) Make sure that you operate the socket wrench in
the identified area when you loosen or tighten the
saw blade nut. (Fig. 46) (Fig. 47)
To install the cutting attachment guard and the
grass blade (533RS)
1. Put the cutting attachment guard (A) onto the shaft
and tighten the bolt (B) to attach it. (Fig. 48)
2. Turn the output shaft to align 1 of the holes in
the drive disc (C) with the related hole in the gear
housing. (Fig. 49)
3. Put the locking pin (D) in the hole to lock the shaft.
4. Put the grass blade (E), the support cup (F) and the
support flange (G) on the output shaft.
5. Make sure that the drive disc and support flange
engages correctly in the center hole of the grass
blade. (Fig. 50)
6. Attach the nut (H).
7. Tighten the nut to the support flange with the socket
wrench. Hold the shaft of the socket wrench near the
blade guard. Tighten in the opposite direction to how
the cutting attachment rotates. Tighten it to a torque
of 35-50 Nm.
To install the cutting attachment guard and the
grass blade (543RS, 553RS)
1. Put the cutting attachment guard (A) onto the shaft
and tighten the bolt (B) to attach it. (Fig. 51)
2. Turn the output shaft to align 1 of the holes in
the drive disc (C) with the related hole in the gear
housing. (Fig. 52)
3. Put the locking pin (D) in the hole to lock the shaft.
4. Put the grass blade (E), the support flange (F) and
the support cup (G) on the output shaft.
5. Make sure that the drive disc and support flange
engages correctly in the center hole of the grass
blade. (Fig. 50)
6. Install the nut (H).
7. Tighten the nut to the support flange with the socket
wrench. Hold the shaft of the socket wrench near the
blade guard. Tighten in the opposite direction to how
the cutting attachment rotates. Tighten it to a torque
of 35-50 Nm.
