.DETECTION OF.MULTI-PATH. DISTORTION
@ Simple method, using stereo amplifier
Connect the terminal marked ''VERT"' (of this unit) with the
terminal marked
''AUX"' (of the amplifier).
@ Tune to the desired FM broadcast,
and, referring to the
signal-strength
meter©®
and
the
FM_
center-tuning
meter®,
make the tuning as perfect as possible.
@ Adjust the stereo
amplifier,
and
increase
the volume
level so that the sound signal can be heard.
© Turning the antenna around
horizontally, and moving it
up and down, determine the position in which the sound
signal is best, and secure the antenna
in that position.
This, then, will be the position at which
multi-path dis-
tortion is minimized.

M@ Method using an oscilloscope
Connect the terminal
marked
''HORIZ"
(of this unit) with
the
horizontal
axis terminal
(marked
''HORIZONTAL"')
of
the oscilloscope, and connect the terminal marked ''VERT"'
(of this unit) with the vertical axis input terminal
(marked
"VERTICAL"
of the oscilloscope.
@ Tune to the desired FM broadcast, and, referring to the
signal-strength
meter®
and
the
FM _ center-tuning
meter®,
make the tuning as perfect as possible.
@ Adjust
the
oscilloscope,
and
receive
the
multi-path
distortion.
© If there is multi-path distortion, a pattern such as shown
in figure B will be seen on the oscilloscope.
If such
a pattern
is seen,
turn
the
antenna
around
horizontally and move it up and down until a pattern such
as
shown
in figure
A appears.
When
this
position
is
determined,
secure the antenna
in that position.
The
pattern
shown
in figure
A is that
received
at the
optimum
antenna
position,
at which
there
is no multi-
path distortion.

No multi-path distortion
Multi-path distortion
This is a signal output terminal for the discrete four-channel
FM broadcasts which
are expected in the future. To enjoy
discrete
four-channel
FM
broadcasts,
one
more
pair of
speakers, a pre-main amplifier and a decoder for discrete
four-channel
broadcasts
are necessary,
in addition to the
ordinary stereo system.
