SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! Always use complete safety gear, since like many comparable sports, ice-
skating is a sport with relatively high risk of injury. Always wear a hand and wrist guard,
knee and elbow pads and reflecting clothes and a helmet while skating. However, please
remember that wearing complete safety gear cannot guarantee 100% protection. HUDORA
also provides protectors, helmets and reflecting products. For more information, visit our
http://www.hudora.de/.
Do not make any changes to your skates which could affect your safety. The self-inhibiting
effect of self-locking elements can subside due to repeated loosening and tightening of the
fasteners. Sharp edges which appear during use must be removed as quickly as possible.
Regular checking, maintenance and care of your skates will keep them safe and increase
their life span.
• Always check that the connecting elements and closing parts are firmly locked before
starting.
• Always ensure that your ice skates are fitting snugly. They should not be too small but
must under no circumstances be too big, as you will not be able to stand securely if the
boot is too large.
• Please do not make any modifications to the construction of the product as this may
influence the skate's safety!
• For your own safety, please use original spare parts only. These can be sourced from
HUDORA.
• Always use blade guards when away from the ice rink. They will help protect the
blades' skating properties for a long period of time.
• Please always include the instructions when passing on the product to a third party!
• Do not use your ice skates once the blades have become blunt or rusty, or if the rivets
on the shoes have come loose or the shoelaces have been torn.
• Warning: Ground blades are sharp and can cause cuts!
• When skating on naturally ice-covered areas, e.g. on frozen lakes, there is a danger
that you could fall through the ice!
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
Starting out is the hardest part ...
... most accidents happen to "beginners" within the first ten minutes. Particular care
should be taken during this stage.
You should not run around with the included protection against cuts. Risk of tripping.
ICE SKATE CONSTRUCTION
A skate boot is referred to in professional circles as "Ice-complete".Ice skates are boots
with a rigidly-attached blade, the actual ice skate. The plastic shell and the skate are firmly
connected to each other. The skate blade consists of steel of a hardness of at least 52 HRC
at the contact surface. The ices skates are ground ready for use.

SKATING TECHNIQUE
• Only use the product to go skating on specifically designated skating areas and for the
purpose it has been designed for.
• When starting out, keep to the edge of the area and hold on to a suitable object (fence)
or ask somebody to lead you for the first couple of steps.
• Please make sure that you are standing straight on the blades to prevent twisting your
ankles. The blades should stand at a right angle to the ice.
• To skate, push forward with the inner edge of one of the blades, held at a slight angle,
and slide over the ice with your weight on the other blade.
• Keep your knees slightly bent while skating and lean for ward slightly with your upper
body. Do not look at your feet while skating, but always in the direction in which you're
moving.
• Continue by taking small steps, while shifting your body weight from one foot to the
other and placing your feet at an outward angle.
• To stop, leave both feet on the ice and let yourself skid to a stop. While doing so, use
your arms to keep your balance.
• Beginners are recommended to attend an ice skating course.
ADJUSTING THE SIZE
You will have to help your child adjust the size. You will need to loosen the "power strap"
as well as the control lever on the heel of the shoe. Pull the control lever backwards. Now
you can turn the lever to adjust the size until the right size is set. You will find a shoe size
mark, where the sole meets the blade holder. After the adjustment, do not forget to pull the
control lever forwards until it clicks into place. Then check for the correct fit of the control
lever, the firm and secure fit of the control lever should be checked regularly.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
• The shoes should be dried after each use.
• After each use, clean the metal parts of your ice skates with a soft cloth.
• The blades are hollow-ground. From time to time, the blades should be reground. This
service is offered at ice skating rinks and in large sports stores. Please note that the
blade holder must not be adjusted while the blade is being ground. After grinding, there
must be a radius of 5 mm at the end of the blade. Otherwise, the skate may become
unsafe to use.
• If the skates aren't being used for a prolonged period of time, it is recommended to
grease the blades slightly to prevent them from becoming rusty.
• Check the skates for damage and wear and tear before and after use, and make sure
that all fasteners are firmly closed.
• Do not make any changes to the structure of the skates!
Use a dry or damp cloth only to clean the product; do not use special cleaning agents!
Check the product for damage or traces of wear and tear before and after each use. Do
not make any structural changes. For your own safety, please use original spare parts
only. These can be sourced from HUDORA. If parts become damaged or if sharp edges
or corners should develop, the product may not be used any more. If in any doubt, please
contact our service team (http://www.hudora.de/service/). Store the product in a safe
place where it is protected from the elements, cannot be damaged, and cannot injure
anyone.
