2.4. Notes on interpretation
It is not possible to make an absolute statement on the function of a CAN network in the (wide) range of
transition between correct signals and severely disturbed signals. This is why the evaluation results of the
CANmonitor must not be seen as a good/bad decision but as an indication to possible problems. If the
CANmonitor provides a warning concerning critical signal shapes, the communication with the bus is not
necessarily disturbed.

If the CANmonitor sets this LED, the differential CAN signal of a received
message has slow signal slopes. This can be requested for EMI
reduction. If additional CAN errors occur (e.g. error frames), this should
be further checked.
LED colour: yellow
A message was received with its dominant level being above or below the
limits of ISO 11898. For receiver nodes the permitted dominant level
range is specified between 0.9V and 5V.
LED colour: yellow
A message was received with its recessive level being above or below the
limits of ISO 11898. For receiver nodes the permitted recessive level
range is specified between -1V and 0.5V.
LED colour: yellow
The error frames are indicated in per cent of the number of the received
messages. The indication 0.1 - 1% errors means that the number of the
error frames referred to the number of the received and evaluated
messages is 0.1 - 1%. The indication is split up in three ranges: 0.1 - 1%,
1 - 5%, 5 - 100% error frames.
LED colour: yellow (3 LEDs)
The LED Invalid Termination is at present not supported. A faulty bus
termination can be detected by means of deformed signals (Over-
/Undershoots, Invalid Dominant Level, Invalid Recessive Level).
LED colour: yellow
The LEDs Invalid Dominant Level, Invalid Recessive Level, Slow Slopes,
Over-/Undershoots as well as the LEDs for the error frequency indicate by
means of different flashing signals when the error has occured.
