19. CHANGE THE AMALGAM
COLLECTING VESSEL
19.1 Observe prior to changing the
amalgam collecting vessel
• In the evening disinfect the VSA 300!
For hygienic reasons disinfect the night
before changing the amalgam collecting
vessel with a suitable disinfection agent,
e.g. OROTOL ULTRA .
• In the morning change the amalgam
collecting vessel!
19.2 Changing the amalgam
collecting vessel
• Switch off main switch of the VSA 300
• Take empty amalgam collecting vessel from
carton and unscrew lid.
To prevent infection we recommend the
wearing of protective gloves when changing
the container. (VBG 103 §5 and §7)
• Grip the full amalgam collecting vessel of
the VSA 300 from below, turn in the direction
of the arrow and take out downwards.
If the amalgam collecting vessel is removed
without switching off the suction unit, the
orange indicator (2) blinks and the hooter
sounds. This can be switched off by pressing
the Service key (3). After changing the
amalgam collecting vessel, press the Service
key once more to cancel the orange indicator
and the "Ready for use" shows once again.
• Cut the sachet of disinfectant on one corner
and pour the contents into the full amalgam
collecting vessel.
The disinfection agent is caustic. If
it comes into contact with the eyes,
rinse well with clean water and
consult a doctor. When it comes
into contact with the skin, wash it
off immediately with soap and
water. We recommend wearing of
protective gloves.
• Close the full amalgam collecting vessel

with lid. Note the markings on the lid and on
the amalgam collecting vessel! These
should be positioned facing each other for
correct lid closure.
• Place the closed amalgam collecting vessel
into the transport carton. Close it and
prevent any accidental opening by sealing
with adhesive tape.
• Insert the empty amalgam collecting vessel
from below into the VSA 300 and turn in
direction of arrow until it stops. Now the
VSA 300 is "Ready for use" once again.
The changing of the amalgam
collecting vessel must be
documented in the log book.
19.3 Waste management of amalgam
collecting vessel
• Send the transport carton labelled with the
address of the relevant recycling firm by
mail or send it to an authorized Waste
Management Plant.
As the contents of the amalgam
collecting vessel are polluted with
heavy metal, it is not allowed to
dispose of it with normal domestic
refuse. Besides this, proof is
required about the correct disposal.
