5. Protective functions
The motor control unit is equipped with the
following protective functions:
Battery protection
• Total discharge prevention: The control
unit reduces battery current so that the
voltage does not drop below approx.
10.5V per 12V cell block. However,
100% battery protection can only be en-
sured by individual monitoring of each
12V block.
• In order to prevent overcharging of the
batteries during recuperation, current is
decreased so that the voltage to the bat-
tery cannot rise above 14.4V per cell
block. This results in greatly reduced
motor braking power during the first
few kilometres when driving with fully-
charged batteries.
Motor control unit protection:
• Short-circuit protection at the output
terminals.
• Overheating protection: The control
unit begins to reduce current at tem-
peratures above approx. 45°C (meas-
ured at the cooling fins). Adequate cool-
ing must therefore be ensured.
• Protection from the effects of wrong
manipulation: If, for example, the r e-
versing switch is activated while the ve-
hicle is being driven forwards at speed,
the system recuperates when the accel-
erator is pressed.

5. Schutzfunktionen
Die Motorsteuerung ist mit folgenden Schutz-
funktionen ausgerüstet.
Zum Schutze der Batterie:
• Die Batterie wird vor Tiefentladung ge-
schützt. Die Steuerung reduziert den Batte-
riestrom soweit, das die Spannung nicht
unter ca. 10,5V pro 12V-Block sinkt. Ein
100%-Schutz der Batterien ist allerdings
nur durch eine Überwachung der einzelnen
12V-Blöcke gewährleistet.
• Um eine Überladung der Batterien bei Re-
kuperation zu verhindern, wird der Reku-
perationsstrom soweit verkleinert, das die
Batteriespannung nicht über 14,4V pro
Block ansteigt. Dies führt d azu, dass bei
geladenen Batterien die Motorbremskraft
bei den ersten Kilometern deutlich vermin-
dert ist.
Zum Schutze der Steuerung:
• Schutz gegen Kurzschluss am Ausgang
• Schutz vor Übertemperatur. Die Steuerung
beginnt ab ca. 45
Strom zu reduzieren. Es ist also auf e ine
genügende Kühlung zu achten.
• Fehlbedienungen sind n icht möglich. Wird
zum Beispiel in voller Fahrt der Rück-
wärtsgang eingeschaltet, so rekuperiert das
Fahrzeug bei Betätigung des Fahrpedals.
