4.3.3 Cooling fan
The use of a cooling fan is recommended
with these motor control units under cer-
tain circumstances:
• When the circulation of fresh air at the
control unit is inadequate (lack of space
around the unit)
• Long periods of operation under high
loads are to be expected
We can supply a suitable cooling fan unit
(see accessories). The cooling fan unit is
supplied as original equipment with all
control units except the AMC220.
Two possible operating modes are pro-
vided for the cooling fan:
• Constant operation: Connect to L

. The cooling fan operates whenever

the motor control unit is switched on.
• Temperature-controlled operation: If L
is connected via relay contacts L

, the cooling fans switch on only when

the temperature of the power semicon-
ductors exceeds 40°C.
Cooling fans of other types may also be
connected to these terminals.

4.3.4 Auxiliary contact
This contact is switched along with the
main relay. It can be used, for example, for
switching on the 12V auxiliary power cir-
cuit.
The maximum permitted current load is
