1. Field of application
Component of a ropewalker ascent system for single rope.
This product must not be pushed beyond its limits, nor be used for
any purpose other than that for which it is designed.
Responsibility

Activities involving the use of this equipment are

You are responsible for your own actions, decisions and

2. Nomenclature

3. Inspection, points to verify
Petzl recommends a detailed inspection at least once every 12
months. Follow the procedures described at Petzl.com. Record the
results on your PPE inspection form.
Before each use
Check the condition of the textile parts and their stitching (wear, cut or
loose threads, damage due to use, to heat, to chemicals...).
Check the condition of the ascender, the connectors and the metal
buckles (absence of deformation, cracks, wear, marks, corrosion...).
During use
It is important to regularly monitor the condition of the product and its
connections to the other equipment in the system. Make sure that all
items of equipment are correctly positioned with respect to each other.
4. Compatibility
Verify that this product is compatible with the other elements of the
system in your application (compatible = good functional interaction).
The KNEE ASCENT is compatible only with the ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG
PLUS combined with the CHICANE and PANTIN.
With standard footwear, use the KNEE ASCENT LOOP assembly. With
footwear having an integrated foot loop with a clip-in point on top of
the boot, use the KNEE ASCENT CLIP assembly.
5. Installing the KNEE ASCENT
1. Clip the upper strap to a CARITOOL slot on the rear of the harness.
You can also attach the TOOL BAG XS to the harness to stow the
system after use.
2. Pass the upper strap over your shoulder, with the elastic strap in
front of you and through the space between the harness and the
attachment bridge.
3. Put the knee ascender on the leg opposite the PANTIN.
4. Connect the upper strap to the ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS auxiliary
attachment hole.
Warning: verify that your ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS is correctly attached
to the harness.
6. Adjustments
For maximum effectiveness and user comfort:
1. Adjust the ascender height to knee level.
2. Adjust the upper strap length to position the connector above the
ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS.
3. Adjust the elastic strap tension by moving the hook between slots.
The elastic strap must stay under tension, even when you bend and
raise your knee upward.
4. Adjust the tension of the connection to the ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS
so that it is well-tensioned.
7. Ascent technique
Warning: verify that your ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS is correctly attached
to the harness when you begin your ascent. The KNEE ASCENT holds
the ZIGZAG / CHICANE in an upright, high position, which may give
the visual impression that the belay device is attached to the harness,
when it is not. As with any activity at height, you must be attached to
your belay system.
Ascending:
Ascending is done by taking small steps. Alternate your steps between
the KNEE ASCENT and the PANTIN. Your hands on the rope do not
pull upward: they help hold the body upright.
8. Additional information
When to retire your equipment:
WARNING: an exceptional event can lead you to retire a product after
only one use, depending on the type and intensity of usage and the
environment of usage (harsh environments, marine environments,
sharp edges, extreme temperatures, chemicals...).
A product must be retired when:
- It has been subjected to a major fall or load.
- It fails to pass inspection. You have any doubt as to its reliability.
- You do not know its full usage history.
- When it becomes obsolete due to changes in legislation, standards,
technique or incompatibility with other equipment...
Destroy these products to prevent further use.

3. Contrôle, points à vérifier
Petzl conseille une vérification approfondie au minimum tous les 12

Avant toute utilisation
Vérifiez l'état des parties textiles et de leurs coutures (usure, fils coupés
ou détendus, dommages dus à l'utilisation, à la chaleur, aux produits
chimiques...).
Vérifiez l'état du bloqueur, des connecteurs et des boucles métalliques
(absence de déformations, fissures, usure, marques, corrosion...).
Pendant l'utilisation
Il est important de contrôler régulièrement l'état du produit et de ses
connexions avec les autres équipements du système. Assurez-vous
du bon positionnement des équipements les uns par rapport aux
autres.
4. Compatibilité
Vérifiez la compatibilité de ce produit avec les autres éléments du
système dans votre application (compatibilité = bonne interaction
fonctionnelle).
Le KNEE ASCENT est compatible uniquement avec le ZIGZAG /
ZIGZAG PLUS associé à la CHICANE et au PANTIN.
Avec une chaussure classique, utilisez la pédale KNEE ASCENT
LOOP. Avec une chaussure disposant d'une pédale intégrée, à clipper
sur le dessus du pied, utilisez la pédale KNEE ASCENT CLIP.
5. Installation du KNEE ASCENT
1. Clippez la sangle supérieure à l'arrière du harnais dans un passant
pour CARITOOL. Vous pouvez également fixer le TOOL BAG XS au
harnais pour ranger le kit après usage.
2. Passez la sangle supérieure sur l'épaule et la sangle élastique
devant vous dans l'espace entre la ceinture du harnais et le pont
d'attache.
3. Placez le bloqueur de genou sur la jambe opposée à votre PANTIN.
4. Connectez la sangle supérieure au point d'attache complémentaire
du ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS.
Attention, vérifiez que votre ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS est correctement
connecté au harnais.
6. Réglages
Pour une efficacité et un confort d'utilisation maximum :
1. Réglez la hauteur du bloqueur au niveau de votre genou.
2. Réglez la longueur de la sangle supérieure pour positionner le
connecteur au-dessus de votre ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS.
3. Réglez la tension de la sangle élastique en déplaçant le crochet
dans les passants. Votre élastique doit rester en tension, même
lorsque vous repliez la jambe vers le haut.
4. Réglez la tension de la connexion au ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS pour
qu'elle soit bien tendue.
7. Technique de montée
Attention, vérifiez que votre ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS est correctement
connecté au harnais lorsque vous commencez votre ascension. Le
KNEE ASCENT maintient le ZIGZAG / CHICANE en position haute,
ce qui peut visuellement laisser croire que l'appareil d'assurage est
connecté au harnais, même quand ce n'est pas le cas. Comme pour
toute évolution en hauteur, vous devez être connecté à votre système
d'assurage.
Montée en alternatif :
La montée s'effectue en alternatif en faisant de petits pas. Prenez
appui alternativement sur le KNEE ASCENT et sur le PANTIN. Les
mains sur la corde ne tractent pas vers le haut : elles empêchent la
bascule du corps vers l'arrière.
8. Informations complémentaires
Mise au rebut :
ATTENTION, un événement exceptionnel peut vous conduire à rebuter
un produit après une seule utilisation (type et intensité d'utilisation,
environnements d'utilisation : milieux agressifs, milieux marins, arêtes
coupantes, températures extrêmes, produits chimiques...).
Un produit doit être rebuté quand :
- Il a subi une chute ou un effort important.
- Le résultat des vérifications du produit n'est pas satisfaisant. Vous
avez un doute sur sa fiabilité.
- Vous ne connaissez pas son historique complet d'utilisation.
- Quand son usage est obsolète (évolution législative, normative,
technique ou incompatibilité avec d'autres équipements...).
Détruisez ces produits pour éviter une future utilisation.

3. Überprüfung, zu kontrollierende
Punkte
Petzl empfiehlt eine gründliche Überprüfung mindestens alle 12
Monate. Bitte beachten Sie die auf Petzl.com beschriebenen
Vorgehensweisen. Tragen Sie die Ergebnisse in den Prüfbericht Ihrer
PSA ein.
Vor jedem Einsatz
Überprüfen Sie den Zustand der Komponenten aus Gurtband und ihre
Sicherheitsnähte (Abnutzungserscheinungen, durchtrennte oder lose
Fäden, durch Benutzung, Hitzeeinwirkung, chemische Produkte usw.
hervorgerufene Beschädigungen).
Überprüfen Sie den Zustand der Seilklemme, der Verbindungselemente
und der Schnallen aus Metall. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass diese
keine Deformierungen, Risse, Abnutzungserscheinungen, Kratzer,
Korrosionserscheinungen usw. aufweisen.
Während des Gebrauchs
Es ist unerlässlich, den Zustand des Produkts und seiner
Verbindungen mit anderen Ausrüstungsgegenständen im System

4. Kompatibilität
Überprüfen Sie die Kompatibilität dieses Produkts mit den
anderen Elementen Ihres Systems (Kompatibilität = funktionelles
Zusammenspiel).
Das KNEE ASCENT-System ist mit dem ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS nur
in Kombination mit dem CHICANE-Bremselement und der PANTIN-
Fußsteigklemme kompatibel.
Benutzen Sie bei normalen Schuhen das Kniesteigklemmen-System
KNEE ASCENT LOOP. Benutzen Sie bei Schuhen mit integrierter
Trittschlinge das Kniesteigklemmen-System KNEE ASCENT CLIP, das
auf dem Fußrücken befestigt wird.
5. Installation des KNEE ASCENT
1. Befestigen Sie den oberen Riemen an der Rückseite des Gurtes an
einer Befestigungsschlaufe für CARITOOL-Gerätehalter. Zudem können
Sie den TOOL BAG XS am Gurt befestigen, um das System nach
Gebrauch zu verstauen.
2. Legen Sie den oberen Riemen über die Schulter und führen Sie
den elastischen Riemen vor sich im Bereich zwischen Hüftgurt und
Seilbrücke hindurch.
3. Platzieren Sie die Kniesteigklemme gegenüber der PANTIN am
anderen Bein.
4. Verbinden Sie den oberen Riemen mit der zusätzlichen Öse des
ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS.
Achtung: Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS
richtig mit dem Gurt verbunden ist.
6. Einstellungen
Für maximale Effizienz und Komfort:
1. Stellen Sie die Seilklemme auf Kniehöhe ein.
2. Passen Sie die Länge des oberen Riemens an, um das
Verbindungselement oberhalb Ihres ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS zu
positionieren.
3. Stellen Sie die Spannung des elastischen Riemens ein, indem Sie
den Haken in eine andere Schlaufe setzen. Der elastische Riemen
muss immer straff sein, auch wenn Sie das Bein nach oben beugen.
4. Passen Sie die Spannung der Verbindung mit dem ZIGZAG /
ZIGZAG PLUS an, damit sie straff ist.
7. Aufstiegstechnik
Achtung: Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS
richtig mit dem Gurt verbunden ist, wenn Sie mit dem Aufstieg
beginnen. Das KNEE ASCENT hält das ZIGZAG / CHICANE in der
oberen Position, so dass es aussieht, als sei das Sicherungsgerät in
den Gurt eingehängt, auch wenn dies nicht der Fall ist. Wie bei jeder
Fortbewegung in der Höhe müssen Sie mit Ihrem Sicherungsgerät
verbunden sein.
Aufstieg mit abwechselndem Einsatz der Beine:
Der Aufstieg erfolgt in kleinen Schritten mit abwechselndem Einsatz
der Beine. Verlagern Sie Ihr Körpergewicht abwechselnd auf das
KNEE ASCENT und die PANTIN. Die Hände ziehen nicht am Seil nach
oben: Sie verhindern nur, dass der Körper nach hinten kippt.
8. Zusätzliche Informationen
Aussondern von Ausrüstung:
ACHTUNG: Außergewöhnliche Umstände können die Aussonderung
eines Produkts nach einer einmaligen Anwendung erforderlich machen
(Art und Intensität der Benutzung, Anwendungsbereich: aggressive
Umgebungen, Meeresklima, scharfe Kanten, extreme Temperaturen,
Chemikalien usw.).
In folgenden Fällen muss ein Produkt ausgesondert werden:
- Es wurde einem schweren Sturz oder einer schweren Belastung
ausgesetzt.
- Das Produkt fällt bei der PSA-Überprüfung durch. Sie bezweifeln
seine Zuverlässigkeit.
- Die vollständige Gebrauchsgeschichte ist nicht bekannt.
- Das Produkt ist veraltet (Änderung der gesetzlichen Bestimmungen,
der Normen oder der technischen Vorschriften, Inkompatibilität mit
anderen Ausrüstungsgegenständen usw.).

3. Controllo, punti da verificare
Petzl raccomanda un controllo approfondito come minimo ogni 12
mesi. Rispettate le procedure descritte sul sito Petzl.com. Registrate i
risultati nella scheda di vita del vostro DPI.
Prima di ogni utilizzo
Controllare lo stato delle parti in tessuto e delle loro cuciture (usura, fili
tagliati o allentati, danni dovuti all'utilizzo, al calore, ai prodotti chimici...).
Verificare lo stato del bloccante, dei connettori e delle fibbie metalliche
(assenza di deformazioni, fessurazioni, usura, segni, corrosione...).
Durante l'utilizzo
È importante controllare regolarmente lo stato del prodotto e dei suoi
collegamenti con gli altri dispositivi del sistema. Assicurarsi del corretto
posizionamento dei dispositivi gli uni rispetto agli altri.
4. Compatibilità
Verificare la compatibilità di questo prodotto con gli altri elementi del
sistema nella vostra applicazione (compatibilità = buona interazione
funzionale).
Il KNEE ASCENT è compatibile esclusivamente con lo ZIGZAG /
ZIGZAG PLUS abbinato al CHICANE e al PANTIN.
Con uno scarpone classico, utilizzare il pedale KNEE ASCENT LOOP.
Con uno scarpone dotato di un pedale integrato, da agganciare sopra il
piede, utilizzare il pedale KNEE ASCENT CLIP.
5. Installazione del KNEE ASCENT
1. Agganciare la fettuccia superiore alla parte posteriore
dell'imbracatura in un passante per CARITOOL. È possibile anche
fissare il TOOL BAG XS all'imbracatura per riporre il kit dopo l'uso.
2. Passare la fettuccia superiore sulla spalla e la fettuccia elastica di
fronte nello spazio tra la cintura dell'imbracatura e il ponte di attacco.
3. Posizionare il bloccante per ginocchio sulla gamba opposta al
PANTIN.
4. Collegare la fettuccia superiore al punto di attacco supplementare
dello ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS.
Attenzione, verificare che lo ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS sia correttamente
collegato all'imbracatura.
6. Regolazioni
Per un'efficacia e un comfort di utilizzo ottimali:
1. Regolare l'altezza del bloccante sul ginocchio.
2. Regolare la lunghezza della fettuccia superiore per posizionare il
connettore sopra lo ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS.
3. Regolare la tensione della fettuccia elastica spostando il gancio nei
passanti. L'elastico deve restare in tensione, anche quando si piega la
gamba verso l'alto.
4. Regolare la tensione del collegamento allo ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS
affinché sia appropriata.
7. Tecnica di risalita
Attenzione, verificare che lo ZIGZAG / ZIGZAG PLUS sia correttamente
collegato all'imbracatura quando si comincia la risalita. Il KNEE
ASCENT mantiene lo ZIGZAG / CHICANE in posizione alta, potendo
visivamente far credere che il dispositivo d'assicurazione sia collegato
all'imbracatura anche se non è così. Come per qualsiasi spostamento
in quota, occorre essere collegati al sistema di assicurazione.
Salita alternata:
La salita alternata si effettua facendo piccoli passi. Appoggiarsi
alternativamente sul KNEE ASCENT e sul PANTIN. Le mani sulla
corda non tirano verso l'alto: impediscono lo spostamento del corpo
all'indietro.
8. Informazioni supplementari
Eliminazione:
ATTENZIONE, un evento eccezionale può comportare l'eliminazione
del prodotto dopo un solo utilizzo (tipo ed intensità di utilizzo,
ambiente di utilizzo: ambienti aggressivi, ambienti marini, parti taglienti,
temperature estreme, prodotti chimici...).
Il prodotto deve essere eliminato quando:
- Ha subito una caduta o un sforzo notevole.
- Il risultato dei controlli del prodotto non è soddisfacente. Si ha un
dubbio sulla sua affidabilità.
- Non si conosce l'intera storia del suo utilizzo.
- Quando il suo utilizzo è obsoleto (evoluzione delle leggi, delle
normative, delle tecniche o incompatibilità con altri dispositivi...).
Distruggere i prodotti scartati per evitarne un futuro utilizzo.
