SETTINGS MENU:
There are 7 menu options in this radio; you can follow below instruction to set the
functions.
Channel selection (MENU 01):
Press [MENU] key until the channel number starts flashing; "CH" will appear on the LCD.
Press the [UP] / [DOWN] key to change the channel, press and hold these keys to quick
scroll through the channels. Press the [PTT] to save and exit menu or press the [MENU]
key to continue with the settings.
CTCSS and DCS codes for private communications (MENU 02):
You can only listen to the communication when receiving a signal with CTCSS/DCS codes
matching those programmed in your radio. The radio has 155 selectable CTCSS/DCS
privacy codes.
To set the CTCSS/DCS code, press the [MENU] key until the code starts flashing, the LCD
will show "ct" or "dc" (ct = CTCSS codes; dc = DCS codes). Press the [UP] / [DOWN] key
to select the CTCSS/DCS codes. Press and hold these keys to quick scroll through the
CTCSS/DCS codes. Press the [PTT] key to save and exit menu or press the [MENU] key
to continue with the settings.
OFF = Turn Off CTCSS/DCS codes.
01 – 155 = CTCSS/DCS codes available (50 CTCSS + 105 DCS)
Note:
- To communicate with other radios that not programmed matching CTCSS/DCS
codes, you must set OFF in this menu.
Squelch level (MENU 03):
You can only listen to communication received from other radios when the signal strength
is higher than the set squelch level.
A higher level makes it more difficult to receive weak signals, while at a lower level you will
hear background noise and/or unwanted signals (Default level: 04).
To set the squelch level press the [MENU] key until LCD display "sq". Press the [UP] /
[DOWN] key to change the squelch level (01-09). Press the [PTT] key to save and exit
menu or press the [MENU] key to continue with the settings.
Setting call tones (MENU 04):
You can transmit different call tones to alert the other members of your group that you
want to talk. There are 10 call tones to choose.
To set a call tone press the [MENU] key until LCD display "CA". The current call tone
setting will flash. Press the [UP] / [DOWN] key to change and hear the call tone. Press the
[PTT] to save and exit menu or press the [MENU] key to continue with the settings.
Voice operated transmission (VOX) (MENU 05):
The VOX function allows you to transmit hands-free mode when voice is detected.
