Important notes for ice makers with refrigerant R 290 (propane)
Room size
WARNING – flammable refrigerant
The refrigeration system of the device contains, depending on the device type (see type plate),
small amounts of the environmentally friendly but flammable refrigerant R 290. It is highly
flammable and in case of leaks, an explosive atmosphere can occur.
Fire, open flames, and smoking are prohibited!
WARNING
Refrigerant R 290, at a certain volume concentration with oxygen, forms a combustible gas-air
mixture. Regarding explosion safety in terms of accident prevention regulations, an extreme
case must be assumed, meaning that the concentration of R 290 in the room air should not
reach the lower flammability limit. This assumes that the installation room is not ventilated, and
no air exchange takes place, and that the refrigerant is immediately and completely released,
and there is an ignition source at the same time!
For the safe operation of the ice maker, it is sufficient to have either a free room volume or
adequate ventilation in the installation room.
Room ventilation
NOTE – Room climate
During continuous operation, the cooling system's release of warm air causes a constant change in the room
climate.
In the ice maker's installation room, it is primarily essential to ensure adequate room ventilation to avoid the room
temperature rising above 30 °C. This high ambient temperature leads to impaired cooling performance of the
device!
Therefore, only place the ice maker in adequately ventilated or air-conditioned rooms.
