Checklist before each use

Check the hand guard

Check the air filter

Before commissioning the machine, the air filter should be checked for its condition and the degree of
contamination. If necessary, clean or replace the air filter.
See chapter maintenance => Clean air filter.

Check the blades

Adjusting the contact presure
To achieve good cutting results, the correct contact pressure setting between the blades is necessary.
Adjust the contact pressure if cuttings are caught between the blades or if the clearance between the
blades has increased due to normal wear of the blades after prolonged use.
Checking the cutting edges
Check the cutting edges of the blades and if necessary, regrind them using a flat and round file:
NOTE: Replace bent or damaged blades.

Check the blade guard

NOTE:
The hand guard (1) prevents hands from coming into
contact with the moving blades, for example, if the operator
loses grip on the front handle.
• Before commissioning the machine, check that the hand
guard (1) is undamaged and that it is correctly fitted.
For this purpose, proceed as follows:
• Loosen the nuts (1) on the top of the blade bar.
• Slightly tighten the screws (2) on the underside (loosen
them slightly beforehand if necessary).
• Turn the screw (2) back a 1/4 to 1/2 turn counter clockwise.
• To do so, hold the screw (2) with the spanner and tighten
the nuts firmly.
• When correctly adjusted, the clearance between the
blades should be 0.6 mm (measured at the screws) and
when the washer under the screw head can be moved
just slightly back and forth by hand.
• Keep the end corner sharp (1). The optimum cutting an-
gle is 45º.
• Round the root of the edge (2).
• Do not use water during grinding.
• The blade guard (1) is intended to protect any part of the
body from coming into contact with the blades (2).
• Check whether the blade guard is in perfect condition.
• Replace the blade guard if it is bent or damaged.
