5.2 Components
5.2.1 Checking the post
1. Inspect the post (Abb. 33/Abb. 34, item 1) for visible
flaws and wear.
2. Inspect the ruler (Abb. 33/Abb. 34, item 4) for visib-
le flaws and damage on the scale.
3. Check that the spring in the post (Abb. 33/Abb. 34,
item 2) is functioning properly.

Measure in case of damage and faulty operation
¶
Remove slide from post, clean and reattach it if the
following damage is found on the post.

Replace the ruler.
¶
Replace the spring.
5.2.2 Slide on the post
1. Check the slide on the post (Abb. 33/Abb. 34, item
3) for ease of movement.
2. Check that the safety detent (3) is functioning pro-
perly.
3. Clean the locking mechanism on the slide and check
for wear.
4. Check that the spring in the safety detent is functio-
ning properly.
In case of damage, wear or faulty operation:

Replace the spring.

Replace the slide.
5.2.3 Base plate
1. Inspect the base plate for visible flaws and damage.
2. Check the wheels for ease of movement.
Measure in case of damage or wear
¶
Replace the wheels.
¶
Replace the base plate.
