if the fast forward take-up torque is outside the
specified values, clean the reel motor pulley, reel idler
and take-up reel with cleaning fluid, and recheck.
REVERSE TAKE-UP TORQUE CHECK AND AD-
JUSTMENT
Notes:
1. When the torque guage is set on the reel and the
REV button is pressed to start the reel turning,
take care that the torque guage does not fly off.
2. Checking and adjustment should be carried out
without a video cassette tape in place.
Checking
1. Remove the cassette housing, and hold down the
CASSETTE
DOWN
button with adhesive tape.
2. Set the torque gauge on the supply reel, and press
the REV button to enter the REVERSE
Mode.
3. Rotate the torque gauge slowly (about one turn
in 2 to 3 seconds) by hand in the take-up direc-
tion, checking that with a torque greater than 800
g.cm there is no slipping between the reel idler,
reel motor pulley and supply reel.

e Adjustment
If the rewind take-up torque is outside the specified
values, clean the reel motor pulley, reel idler and sup-
ply reel with cleaning fluid, and recheck.
1. Remove the cassettte housing and hold down the
CASSETTE
DOWN
button with adhesive tape.
2. Set the torque guage on the take-up reel and , in
the normal mode, rotate the toqure gauge in the
clockwise direction at a fixed speed (1 turn n ap-
proximately 6 seconds). Verify that the torque is
within the specified values.
Specified values: 175 +15 g.cm
Note:
The take-up torque will vary due to motor rotation
torque fluctuations, so take the setting to be the cen-
tral value.
Adjustment (Figure 9)
If the playback take-up torque is not within the speci-
fied values, adjust it to within these values by me-
ans of the adjustment volume.

FAST FORWARD BACK TENSION CHECK
Notes:
1. Make measurements with the torque gauge se-
curely on the reel. If the torque gauge is not se-
cure, it will not be possible to obtain an accurate
reading.
2. The fast forward back tension and loading back
tension on the supply side are the same, so if the
loading back tension has already been checked
there is no need to make the present check.
© Checking
1. Remove the cassette housing and hold down the
CASSETTE
DOWN
button with adhesive tape.
2. Press the FF button to enter the FAST FORWARD
Mode.
3. Put the torque gauge on the supply reel and slow-
ly rotate it to the right (1 turn every 2 to 3 se-
conds).
Verify that the torque
is within
the
specified values (10 g.ccm—20 g.cm).
