_ Adjustment procedure
(1) Bias current adjustment
2) After recording on a tape in this state, set the audio
oscillator frequency to 12 kHz and then record on the
tape.

3) Playback the recorded tape, read the output, and check
that the level at 12 kHz is OdB to 1dB greater than at 1.2
kHz.

4) If the level at 12 kHz is not OdB to 1dB greater than at 1.2
kHz, adjust RT4L and R and repeat record/playback
until
the output difference of 0dB to 1dB is obtained.

For CHROME and METAL tapes, make checks only. If
+3dB is not satisfied, readjust using a NORMAL tape.
(2) Record/playback
output level adjustment
1) Connect the audio oscillator to the LINE IN terminals and

apply 400 Hz signal. In record mode, adjust the audio
oscillator until the meter reads —16dBm, and then record
on the tape.
2) Playback the recorded tape and check that the output is
within
—16dBm +0.5dB.

3) If the output difference is not within £0.5dB, adjust RT3L
and R and repeat record/playback until the difference is
+0.5dB.
