PERSONAL SAFETY

Do not wear loose clothing , jewellery or anything that could get caught in moving machinery
Long hair should be tied back or covered.
The use of safety goggles is required ( normal prescription glasses are not a suitable replacement )
Ear protection is advised during periods of extended operation.
If there is a risk of heavy objects damaging feet or if there is a risk of slipping on wet or slippery floors ,
suitable non-slip safety footwear should be worn.
A hard hat should be worn where there is a risk of falling objects or hitting your head.
Always use an appropriate dust mask if the job creates dust . Take extra care when working with
concrete and fibre boards such as MDF , as the resulting dust can be hazardous to your health.
If the machine is fitted with dust extraction and collection facilities . ensure that these are
properly connected and used.
Wherever possible , secure any work pieces using a vice or clamps .
Do not over-reach-keep a proper footing and maintain your balance at all times .
Do not operate the power tool when you are tired or if taking medication that causes drowsiness ,
or whilst being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

WORK AREA

Ensure that the working environment is clean and tidy.
Keep any work areas well lit and ventilated . Do not use power tools in areas where there is
a risk of explosion or fire from combustible materials , flammable liquids or gases ,
and dust of an explosive nature.
It is recommended that you consult an expert on a suitable fire extinguisher and its use.
CHILDREN
Children and pets should be kept out of the work area . Children should not be allowed to touch or
operate machinery or touch extension cords.
All power tools should be kept out of the reach of children , preferably stored in a locked
cabinet or room when not in use .

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces ( e.g. pipes , radiators and refrigerators ) .
Do not expose any electrical items to water-rain , moisture , damp locations , etc
Check the power tool cord periodically and if damaged have it replaced by an authorised service facility .
Check that the voltage on the rating plate of your product corresponds with your local electricity supply which
must be A.C. ( Alternating Current)
It is recommended that an RCD ( Residual Current Device ) is fitted into the mains supply for added safety .
Do not use 2-core extension leads with power tools which require an earth-always use 3-core leads with an
earth supply . If the tool is used outdoors use only extension leads marked for outdoor use.
Always unwind any extension reels fully .
For extension reels up to 15 meters use a wire cross section of 1 . 5mm . For extension cords over 15 meters
but less than 40 meters , use a wire cross section of 2 . 5mm rated at 10 amps.
Protect the power lead from sharp objects , excessive heat and damp or wet locations . Check the power lead
periodically , and replace if damaged.
Never pull on the power lead to disconnect it from the mains socket . Never carry the power tool by its power lead .
Ensure that power tool is disconnected from the mains socket when not in use . before servicing , lubricating or
making adjustments , and when changing any accessories such as blades and drill bits.
Any repairs should only be carried out by a fully qualified electrician or an authorised service agent .
