Qualification of the personnel

Commissioning, handling, operation, servicing and
maintenance of the pump require basic specialist
knowledge as well as knowledge of the associated
technical terms. In order to ensure operational
safety, these activities must only be carried out by a
qualified and authorised specialist who has received
specific safety-related instructions or by an in-
structed person under the supervision of a special-
ist.
Qualified personnel
A specialist is defined as a person who is able to
carry out operating and maintenance tasks in a pro-
fessional manner based on their professional train-
ing.
The specialist is a person who is able to assess the
work assigned to them and recognise potential haz-
ards on the basis of their technical training,
knowledge and experience as well as knowledge of
the relevant standards and regulations.
The specialist is familiar with the contents of these
operating instructions and all other applicable docu-
ments and has read and understood them.
Instructed personnel
An instructed person is a person who has been ad-
equately informed and trained with regard to the
tasks assigned to them and the potential risks of im-
proper behaviour. An instructed person is familiar
with the necessary protective equipment, protective
measures, relevant rules and regulations and acci-
dent prevention regulations, has been instructed in
terms of operating conditions and has furnished
proof of their qualification.
NOTE
Instructed personnel must always be instructed by
at least one specialist.

Personal protective equipment

Personal protective equipment protects you from
injury.
Wear safety shoes.
When working on the pump, wear work clothing
and protective gloves if necessary.

Safety devices

Safety devices such as protective covers serve to
protect you from injuries at danger points.
Operate the pump only with intact and function-
ing safety devices. Before switching on, check
that all safety devices are in place. After com-
pletion of maintenance work, reinstall all safety
devices.
Only remove protective covers when the pump
is at a standstill. Secure the pump against being
accidentally switched on.

Safety in general handling of the
pump
2.6.1

Prevention of accidents

Legal and internal accident prevention regulations
can prevent injuries. Observe the applicable local
regulations.
2.6.2

Safe workplace

A safe workplace is a prerequisite for safe and
ergonomic working.
Always keep the workplace clean.
Supply lines must be laid in such a way that they
do not present a risk of tripping.
Ensure good lighting during work.
