INSTRUCTION MANUAL
PRODUCT'S PRESENTATION
This kit allows you to detect errors in the system by
means of pressure readings in the combustion cham-
ber. It can be used both in petrol and diesel vehicles.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
•
Make sure that the vehicle has been jacked up
and is supported with axle stands.
•
Make sure that the correct connector is used for
the engine being tested.
•
Always release the pressure from the gauge, be-
fore disconnecting the quick release
•
coupling.
OPERATION
•
Check that the engine oil is at the correct level.
•
Remove all of the glow plugs/spark plugs from
the engine.
•
Select the suitable adaptor from the kit and screw
it into the first glow/spark plug port.
•
Connect the coupling of the gauge hose to the
adaptor.
•
Turn over the engine using the starter motor and
observe the gauge.
•
The pointer should rise steadily until reaching its
maximum reading.
•
Note the maximum reading obtained.
•
Depress the release valve to release the pres-
sure.
•
This valve allows you to repeat the test if required
without disconnecting the tester.
WARNING! Always release pressure via the
release valve before disconnecting the tester.
•
Disconnect the compression tester from the
adaptor and unscrew the adaptor.
•
Install the adaptor into the next cylinder's glow/
spark plug port and repeat the test.
•
Continue the tests for all of the remaining cylin-
ders in turn.
NOTE: A variation in compression readings be-
tween cylinders is often a better indication of
engine problems than the individual values of
compression.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Level of compression
Very low compression
reading on the first
stroke, followed by
gradually increasing
pressure on successi-
ve strokes.
Low compression rea-
ding on the first stroke,
which does not build
up during successive
strokes.
Compression level is
unusually high.
