Revision

Note: The MSD 523-E has an alarm filter to prevent false alarms due to detector deception.
To check out the smoke detector the detector can be set into the inspection mode. In this operating mode a curtailed
alarm filter function can be activated. For this purpose the operating voltage must be switched off for a minimum
of 10 seconds, or the reset switch must be depressed on the LiSE control panel unit. The alarm filter is then
non-functional for 17 minutes, and the smoke detector can be checked out with the test gas. After this period of time has
elapsed the alarm filter is automatically reactivated.

Hours of operation

The heat detector has an automatic pollution compensation with LED indicator and according to DIN 14675 A1 it is
subject to the following operation hours:
a) If, during the annual performance test according to DIN VDE 0833-1, no variance of the responding qualities is tested,
the detector can remain in service.
b) If according to point a) the functionality is demonstrated, the detector can remain operating up to eight years. After this
time the detector has to be replaced respectively has to be tested in the factory and to be overhauled.

Maintenance

The skome detectors feature a detector self-test function which automatically subject the detectors to a largely electronic
functional check. In addition, they are equipped with an automatic soiling compensation function. The detectors must be
subjected to a physical functional check on site at regular intervals. Therefore, we recommend:
• Maintenance and inspection measures should be carried out regularly, by trained specialist personnel (electrician) only.
• A functional check and visual inspection should be carried out at least once a year, according to the servicing
instructions issued:
- Visual inspection of detector attachment (base)
- Visual inspection of the detector (damage)
- Visual inspection of the detector labeling
- Triggering of the detector with test gas (aerosol)
- Check of the alarm LED
- Check of the alerting channel from the detector to the LiSE contol panel for proper functioning
Detectors which are obviously in a heavily soiled state or are damaged mechanically must be replaced. Optical fire
detectors should be replaced every 5 to 8 years, depending on ambient conditions (degree of soiling). If the environment
is particularly dusty, it may be necessary to replace the detector at an earlier point!
