Connection to the network
Preparation
▸
Mount the intercom station as described
earlier in this manual
▸
Connection of the SIP station with a
100 Mbit Ethernet LAN (Ethernet 100BaseT
according to IEEE 802.3) via the RJ-45 socket
(Ethernet port) or the screw terminals 1236
(observe EIA/TIA standard, observe POE
supply switch), see page 50
▸
Power supply via Power over Ethernet
(PoE according to IEEE 802.3af)
!
The Behnke SIP intercom station is factory
configured to an automatic IP configuration
via DHCP. It obtains its IP address
automatically from the DHCP server, if
present.
If no DHCP server is found in the network,
the device assigns itself an IP address in
the Link Local Network 169.254.0.0/16. Note
that if the device has assigned itself an IP
address, you also need to assign your com-
puter an IP address on the Link Local Network
169.254.0.0/16 so that you can access the
device. In addition, the device and the com-
puter must be on the same network segment for
a connection to be possible.

Start of the intercom station
Startup process
The startup process begins as soon as the
device is connected to the network (Ethernet
100BaseT according to IEEE 802.3) and the
power supply (PoE according to IEEE 802.3af).
Observe your network infrastructure here.
Shortly afterwards, the status LED is switched
on and lights up permanently red.
After about 20 seconds, the software is started
and a high-pitched beep is emitted from the
loudspeaker of the intercom station. Intercom
stations with display show the Behnke logo.
The network is then activated.
As soon as the device has obtained an IP
address from the DHCP server, which is
announced for devices that are in the delivery
state. Note down the IP address in order to be
able to access the web interface of the intercom
station in the further course of commission-
ing. For intercom stations that are no longer
in the delivery state, a low sound is emitted.
For devices with display, the IP address is
displayed briefly.
Connect the intercom station to the network
(cf. from page "3. Basic electronics" on page
50) and mount into the accordingly prepared
housing or column.
When the startup process is finished, the status
LED changes. The LED flashes red, see also the
following states of the status LED.
