No modifications may be made to the child
safety seat or the seat belts. The child safety
seat must not be used without its seat cover.
Only a genuine seat cover recommended by
the manufacturer may be used as it is an in-
tegral component of the child safety seat and
of its legal certification. Otherwise, the child
may be injured in the event of an
accident, sharp braking or a sudden change
of direction.

In order for the automatic child seat recogni-
tion system to detect a child safety seat on
the front-passenger seat and disable the
front-passenger front airbag, the vehicle and
the child safety seat must be equipped with
this system.

If the child safety seat is fitted on the front-
passenger seat and the "PASSENGER AIR-
BAG OFF" warning lamp is not lit, the front-
passenger front airbag is enabled. In this
case, the child could be seriously or fatally in-
jured by the front-passenger front airbag
should it deploy in the event of an accident. If
the front-passenger front airbag is not disa-
bled, the child safety seat must be fitted on a
rear seat suitable for this purpose.
Have the automatic child seat recognition
system checked if the "PASSENGER AIRBAG
OFF" warning lamp does not light up when a
child safety seat with automatic child seat
recognition is fitted.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre for this pur-
pose.

If either the vehicle or the child safety seat is
not equipped with the automatic child seat
recognition system, the front-passenger front
airbag will not be disabled. If the front-pas-
senger front airbag is not disabled, the child
could be seriously or fatally injured by the
front-passenger front airbag should it be de-
ployed in the event of an accident.
In this case, you must fit the child safety seat
on a rear seat suitable for this purpose.

Do not twist the belts or switch them around.
Otherwise, the child will not be properly re-
strained in the event of an accident, sharp
braking or a sudden change of direction and
could be seriously or fatally injured.

Never place objects such as pillows or cush-
ions underneath the child safety seat. The en-
tire base of the child restraint system must
always be resting on the seat cushion.
