12. Inspection and maintenance
instructions
For the general inspection and maintenance instructions,
please refer to the attached operating manual issued by
the calliper gauge manufacturer. If there are any incon-
sistencies in the function or visual appearance, follow
the specifications in the operating manual issued by the
calliper gauge manufacturer.
Note: For certain types of calliper gauge and sets, no
operating manual from the calliper gauge manufacturer
is attached.
Changing the battery
PFEIFER rope calliper gauge 60 & 125
On the PFEIFER rope calliper gauge 60 & 125, change
the battery removing the battery compartment (8). To
do this, use the supplied screwdriver or another narrow
slotted screwdriver to carefully drive into the groove
below the battery compartment and, with minimal
effort, pry the battery compartment slightly out of the
housing. No force can be applied with the screwdriver,
as this may damage the plastic housing of the measu-
ring instrument. Then pull the tray out of the housing
by hand. The battery is then removed from the holder.
Disposed properly of the battery. When inserting the
new battery (type CR 2032), align it with the positive
pole (marking on battery) in the direction of the display
and insert it into the holder. Push the holder with the
battery back into the compartment without force. After
switching on, a sequence of numbers (e. g. "32 -- 0")
is displayed. The calliper gauge must now be zeroed in
accordance with Section 5.

PFEIFER rope calliper gauge 40 & 75
On the PFEIFER rope calliper gauge 40 & 75, the com-
partment is opened by pushing the battery compart-
ment (8) towards the arrow mark. The battery can then
be removed by hand. Disposed properly of the battery.
Then reinsert the new battery (LR 44) into the battery
compartment (8) with the same orientation (positive
pole on top, marking on battery). Finally, the battery
compartment is closed again by sliding the cover
towards the display. The calliper gauge must now be
zeroed in accordance with Section 5.
Cleaning the PFEIFER rope calliper gauge
Contamination on the depth measuring bar (10) can
impair the adjustment of the outer calliper. The measu-
ring bar can be cleaned with a dry cloth.
A dirty housing can be cleaned with a dry, soft cloth.
In case of severe contamination, wipe the housing with
a cloth that has been lightly dampened in a neutral
solvent. Avoid volatile organic solvents, such as thin-
ners, as these liquids may damage the housing.
Clean the jaws with a dry cloth before each measure-
ment and after finishing a series of measurements or
before putting the measuring instrument into storage.
Lubricants and other types of contamination can
cause the sticking of measuring jaws. Separating the
measuring jaws by force can damage the measuring
instrument.
If the device is opened, excluding the battery com-
partment (8), the warranty claim expires.
