2. SAFETY INFORMATION

DANGER
All work on HYDAC diaphragm accumulators must only be
carried out by suitably trained staff.
Incorrect handling can lead to serious accidents. The
relevant protective measures must be taken (e.g. for
aggressive operating media).
Gases under pressure.
After discharging and/or completely draining the hydraulic
accumulator (e.g. to depressurise the hydraulic system
before work is carried out), the accumulator can build up an
amount of pressure again if the lines are later shut off on the
fluid side.
EN
This possibility must be taken into account generally, and
particularly before carrying out work on hydraulic systems
which include connected hydraulic accumulators.
All the fluid-side lines connected to the hydraulic
accumulator must therefore be depressurised and after that
the lines must remain open.
Only then may the accumulator be removed from the
hydraulic system.
Before working on the accumulator itself, the gas side of
the accumulator must be depressurised and remain open.
Ensure that the gas side is depressurised. Only then can
work be performed on the accumulator itself (such as
disassembly).
For disassembly or assembly of the hydraulic accumulator
ensure that this is sufficiently fastened, preferably on
the bottom part of the accumulator (2). Damage must be
avoided.
Any hydraulic fluid that may leak out must be collected.
Pressure tests (e.g. for repeat tests) must not be carried out
with the separation element (diaphragm). Appropriate seals
for the pressure tests are specified in the "SEALS FOR
PRESSURE TESTS" table. The media compatibility of the
seals used must be checked.
On no account must any welding, soldering or mechanical
work be carried out on the diaphragm accumulator.
Hydraulic accumulators must only be
charged with nitrogen.
Never use other gases.
Risk of explosion.
Danger of rupture and cancellation of type
approval certification if machining and/or
welding/soldering operations are carried out.
WARNING
The accumulator shell can become hot. Risk of burns.

3. DISASSEMBLY OF THE
HYDRAULIC ACCUMULATOR
NOTICE
Safety precautions according to section 2 must be
observed.
Only threaded versions of diaphragm accumulators can be
disassembled.
For item numbers see diagram 2 I – 2 V.
3.1 Removal
– Carefully clean the zone around the gas and fluid side
connections.
– Fully relieve pressure on the fluid side of the hydraulic
accumulator.
DANGER
When nitrogen is released from hydraulic accumulators in
enclosed spaces, adequate ventilation must be provided.
Danger of asphyxiation.
WARNING
Never remove gas side special connections, for example
A3 (10), directly under pressure.
Risk of injury.
The HYDAC FPU is to be used.
– Unscrew protective cap (8).
– Use a hex socket screwdriver SW6, DIN ISO 2936, to
loosen screw plug (7) (max. 1/2 rotation).
– Connect charging and testing unit FPU in accordance with
the operating instructions and open the release valve to
slowly release the pressure.
– Remove screw plug (7).
– Remove all depressurised lines on the gas and the fluid
side and remove the entire diaphragm accumulator from
the system.
