Scope of delivery of the software

If you purchased your software with a device, the device already has a pre-installed optimized Windows operating system. If
you only purchased the software for the conversion of an operating system, you must install this on your system. The
supplied and preinstalled software is optimized for the respective device version.
The system can be used for PCS 7 with the different system images supplied.
When commissioning the system for the first time, converting the operating system or after restoring the factory state using
the Restore USB stick included in the scope of delivery, one of these system images must first be selected.
The following system images are available:
1. Windows operating system (Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 or Windows Server 2019) without pre-installed PCS software
as the basis for installation according to customer requirements.
2. Windows operating system with pre-installed PCS software (for PCS 7) in the versions:
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019

- PCS 7 Engineering Station
In the delivery state, the system image for "Windows operating system with PCS 7 OS Client Station" is pre-installed
on the system.

Restore USB flash drive
The product package includes a Restore USB stick with which you can restore the system partition or the entire drives.
Note
The integrity and authenticity of the Restore USB flash drive is ensured with a catalog file (content.cat). This file is supplied on
the restore medium and can be used for verification. Details on how to verify integrity and authenticity can be found in the
"PCS 7 Readme (online)". You can find the latest version of the document for download under the entry ID 109801032 in

Functions of the Restore USB flash drive
SIMATIC PCS stations based on IPC547J are set up in the factory and with the Restore USB flash drive as UEFI-based systems
with "GUID Partition Table" (GPT) partitioning. The Restore USB flash drive is to be booted in "UEFI" mode. You can manually
select the boot mode in your system's boot manager. To do this, press the <F7> key as the system starts up and use the
cursor keys to navigate to the desired boot entry (UEFI boot of your USB stick). The functions of the Restore menu described
below vary in some points depending on the system setup and the system drives.
You have the following options:
• Restore factory settings
Restore the factory settings of all drives, especially the system drive, with the Windows operating system. If the use of the
system drive had been changed beforehand using "Reorganize partition layout", this change will not be applied. The result
to be expected after the action has been carried out is displayed in the description.
• Restore system partition (Windows only)
Restore system partition with the Windows operating system, without PCS software (corresponds to A1 image).
• Restore system partition (with PCS 7 installation)
Restore system partition with the Windows operating system and the PCS 7 software (corresponds to A2 image).
• Restore partition layout
The partition layout is created for all drives and no image is restored. You can use this function, for example, after a drive
swap to restore only the system partition (Windows only).
