previously adjusted on the notcher is aligned with
the marked line
– Retighten all the four wing screws.
If there is not enough space for the guide rail on the
workpiece, the parallel fence can also be mounted
on the opposite (left) side of the notcher.
Working with the notcher
Attention must be paid that the following conditions
are met:
– The workpiece is safely supported and clamped if
necessary
– Movement of the power supply cord is not restricted
in any way
– The pendulum safety guards are in proper position
and freely movable
– The cutting head is fitted with sharp blades.
After all adjustments of the notcher are completed,
the electric tool may be plugged into a mains socket.
Place the notcher on the workpiece such that the internal
pendulum safety guard is still freely movable. The internal
pendulum guard is to be opened my beans of the swiveling
handle (8) so far that the notcher is able to be fed and
cutting operation started.
After the work is finished, switch the electric tool off by
releasing the switch actuator. Only after the cutting head
has come to a complete standstill, the notcher may be
removed from the workpiece and put aside.
Rundown time for 400 V version: 1 to 3 s.
Replacement of cutting tools
Important: Before replacement of the cutting tools,
remove the plug from the mains socket. Be careful, cutting
edges of the tool blades are sharp - danger of injury.
– Open the external pendulum guard by hand and block it
at the open position my means of the chip deflector
– Turn the cutting tool by means of the hexagon key (16)
until the locking pin (23) may be inserted in its hole
– Loosen the fixing screw (24) by means of the hexagon
key, remove the screw and the clamping flange (25);
– Remove the locking pin and pull off the cutting tool
carefully (danger of injury)
– Before a new cutting tool is fitted, clean the contact
surfaces of the backing flange, cutting tool and clamping
flange
– Put the cutting tool on the backing flange, making
absolutely sure about its orientation corresponding with
the direction of rotation
– Replace the clamping flange and put the fixing screw
in place
GB
– Turn the cutting tool clockwise by means of the hexagon
key, until the locking pin preventing rotation of the
cutting tool for tightening may be inserted in its hole
– Tighten the fixing screw
– Remove the locking pin and close the external pendulum
safety guard.
Replacement of the reversible blades
Both the rafter-seat cutting head and the flat cutting head
are fitted with commercially available carbide-tipped rever-
sible blades.
– Loosen the screw with inner-hexagon head and remove it
– Remove the clamping plate together with the reversible
blade
– Clean the reversible blade and the bearing surface
– Turn the reversible blade around or use another one
and place it on the clamping plate
– Replace the clamping plate together with the reversible
blade and put the fixing screw back into its position
– For blades on the flat cutting head and on the carver
side of the rafter-seat cutting head, it is important to
establish the lateral projection of the reversible blades
by means of the enclosed adjustment gauge
– Tighten the fixing screw firmly.
No alkaline or acidic agents may be used for cleaning
of the cutting tools!

Maintenance and care

The notcher requires practically no maintenance. Lubrication
for the antifriction bearings is designed to last for the
service life of the electric tool. However, it is recommended
to remove accumulated dust and chips regularly by
(Figure 3)
blowing compressed air through the motor ventilation
holes while the motor is running.
The bottom of the guide place should be rubbed with
an anti-seize agent („Silbergleit" or wax) time to time.
For 230 V:
The notcher is equipped with the carbon brushes which
allow their wear only to the minimum usable length.
Then the power supply circuit is automatically interrupted
and the electric tool stops running.
Before replacement of the carbon brushes, remove the
plug from the mains socket.
For replacement of the carbon brushes, unscrew the brush
caps (26) and remove old carbon brushes (27). Clean
inside of the brush holders with a dry swab. After insertion
of the new carbon brushes, they must be able to move
easily in their guides. Screw the brush caps back to fix
the carbon brushes in their positions.
