6. OPERATION

Switch on the switch box with the power button. The blue power indicator lights up and the unit recalls the
last user settings (even if it was disconnected from mains power for a long period). Then switch on the
connected amplifier(s). The unit can either be operated via the buttons on the front panel or via the remote
control. When two units are connected in series, you can select which unit can be controlled by the remote
control.

6.1 Remote control

1. When actuating a button, always direct the remote control towards the sensor. There must be no
obstacles between remote control and the sensor. The range of the remote control is 10 meters.
2. If the range of the remote control decreases, the batteries are probably exhausted and must be replaced.
3. If the range of the remote control is not sufficient, the optional extension IR receiver can be connected to
the unit and increase the range. The extension is equipped with self-adhesive tape and can be attached
to any clean and dry surface.

6.2 Selecting the operating mode

Select the desired operating mode with the button IN/OUT MODE. The green control LEDs will indicate
which setting is active.
• 2 IN: The unit operates as speaker switch box in the 2/7 mode, i.e. 2 inputs/7 outputs. Two amplifiers can
be connected to the inputs Zone A and B and the signal can be switched to the speaker outputs Zone 1 to
7 individually or in any desired combination when the multi-zone function is activated.
• 7 IN: The unit operates as amplifier switch box in the 7/2 mode, i.e. 7 inputs/2 outputs. Up to seven
amplifiers can be connected to the inputs Zone 1 to 7 and the signal can be switched individually to the
speaker outputs Zone A and B.
NOTE: When switching from 2/7 mode (speaker switch operation) to 7/2 mode (amplifier switch operation),
the multi-zone function will be automatically deactivated and cannot be activated.

6.3 Operation as speaker switch box in 2/7 mode

1. Use the button ZONE IN/OUT to select the amplifier signal which is to be reproduced: Zone A or B.
Selecting both zones at the same time is not possible. The green control LEDs will indicate which setting
is active.
2. Use the buttons ZONE IN/OUT Zone 1 to 7 to select the desired speaker pair to which the amplifier
signal is to be applied to. The corresponding green control LED lights up.

6.3.1 Combination mode (multi-zone function) in 2/7 mode

To apply the amplifier signal to multiple speaker pairs at the same time (see fig. 4 and 5 on pages 5 and 6),
the multi-zone function can be activated. For this purpose, press the button MULTI ZONE ENABLE. The
yellow control LED lights up. Now the buttons ZONE IN/OUT Zone 1 to 7 allow for switching on further
speaker pairs as desired. The corresponding green control LEDs light up. Caution: The selected speaker
pairs will be connected in parallel by the switch box. Only use the multi-zone function for applicable speakers
(see chapter Electrical Connection).

6.4 Operation as amplifier switch box in 7/2 mode

1. Use the button ZONE IN/OUT to select the speaker pair to which the amplifier signal is to be applied to:
Zone A or B. The green control LEDs will indicate which setting is active.
2. Use the buttons ZONE IN/OUT Zone 1 to 7 to select the desired amplifier whose signal is to be
reproduced via the speaker pair. The corresponding green control LED lights up.
3. In 7/2 mode, the multi-zone function cannot be activated, i.e. only one amplifier can be selected at a
time. When switching from 2/7 mode to 7/2 mode, the multi-zone function will be automatically
deactivated.
