5. SETTING INTO OPERATION

5.1 Rack installation

Install the unit on a plane surface or in your rack. For 19" (483 mm) rack installation, 2 units are required.
You can fix the unit with four screws M6 in the rack. When choosing the installation spot make sure that
there is enough space around the unit for ventilation or that heated air from the rack can be passed on to
improve heat dissipation. Steady overheating will damage your unit.

5.2 Electrical connection

Please see the figures on pages 3 to 6.
5.2.1 Connecting amplifiers
If the amplifiers to be connected are switched on, switch them off before making any connection. When
connecting PA components the installation must only be carried out by a qualified electrician!
High voltage at terminals when using 100 V systems. Installation by skilled personnel only! Turn off
PA system before connecting.
Always connect the positive poles of the amplifier outputs to the corresponding red terminal and the negative
poles to the black terminal of the switch box.
1. Connect the pairs of screw terminals ZONE 1 to 7 in 2/7 mode (speaker switch operation) to up to two
amplifiers (see fig. 1 on page 3)
2. Connect the pairs of screw terminals ZONE A and B in 7/2 mode (amplifier switch mode) to up to seven
amplifiers (see fig. 2 on page 3).

5.2.2 Connecting speakers in switch mode

In the switch mode PA speakers or low-impedance speakers (also of varying impedances) can be
connected. The load by the speakers must not exceed 25 A per channel, otherwise the amplifier may be
damaged by overload. In case of low-impedance speakers make sure the input impedance of the speaker is
at least the same or higher than the output impedance of the amplifier. Always connect the positive poles of
the speakers to the corresponding red terminal and the negative poles to the black terminal of the switch
box.
1. Connect the pairs of screw terminals ZONE 1 to 7 in 2/7 mode (speaker switch operation) to up to seven
speaker pairs (see fig. 1 on page 3).
2. Connect the pairs of screw terminals ZONE A and B in 7/2 mode (amplifier switch mode) to up to two
speaker pairs (see fig. 2 on page 3).

5.2.3 Connecting speakers in combination mode (multi-zone function)

In the combination mode (multi-zone function) the selected speaker pairs will be connected in parallel by the
switch box and consequently change the impedance of the switch box. Thus the combination mode is
applicable only for use with PA speakers as with low-impedance speakers the total impedance will become
too low and the amplifier may be damaged by overload. For example, if 8
impedance of the speaker switch box will drop to 1.14
activating the multi-zone function.
