Preparation: Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the scales and
remove the battery safety strip. Please check for correct polarity of the batteries (+/-).
On the underside of the scales, a small push button "UNIT" is provided, which will allow
country specific settings (kg = kilogram / lb = pound). Please ensure that the scales are
configured to show the unit of weight that you normally use.
4. Weighing function (only weight measuring)
Simply step onto the scales. Stand still, do not hold on to anything. Your weight will be
displayed as soon as the scales have stabilised.

5. Programming / Entering personal data

Enter and store your personal data (female or male, athletic or non-athletic, body height,
age) in one of the memory locations P1 – P8 (for up to 8 individuals) before using the
scales for the first time. The input buttons are located below the display. To enter your
personal data, touch the buttons: SET (memory button),

holding the button for more than 1 second):

bare feet on the stainless steel strips of the scales. The scales will activate
automatically.
3. Your weight will be displayed first, and the scales will then search for your personal
memory location. Should two memory locations with very similar weight values exist,
then both memory places (e.g. P1 and P2) will be displayed simultaneously. Select the
memory location on the left by pressing the ◄ button, or the one on the right by
pressing the ► button. The signal 'o' will now run twice from left to right across the
display, while the body analysis is calculated. Keep standing still. Once complete, the
result values will be shown on the display as follows:
Constant Your weight in kg
1. Your body fat in % (FAT)***
2. Your body water in % (TBW)
3. Your muscle mass in % (MUS)
4. Your bone mass in kg (BONE)
(plus
*** An analysis will be shown at the very bottom of the display, while your body fat
percentage is displayed:
The measured values will be displayed twice more in succession, then the scales will
deactivate automatically.
The percentage of body fat shows the percentage of fat in relation to the total weight of a
body. There is no general recommendation for this value, since this depends significantly
on gender (due to the different physique) and age. Body fat is vital for the daily body
functions. It protects organs, cushions joints, regulates body temperature, stores vitamins
and acts as an energy storage for the body. With the exception of high-performance
athletes, a body fat percentage for women between 10 % and 13 % and for men between
2 % and 5 % is regarded as vital.
The percentage of body fat is not a clear indicator for health. A body weight and a
percentage of body fat which are too high are related to many diseases of civilisation such
as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. A lack of exercise and the wrong diet are the
most common causes for these diseases. There is a clear causal connection between
being overweight and a lack of exercise.
A significant part of the human body consists of water. This body water has a different
distribution throughout the body. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75 % water, blood
approx. 83 % water, body fat approx. 25 % water and the bones have a water percentage
of about 22 %.
= Body fat % too low
= Body fat % in healthy range
= Increased body fat %
= Body fat % too high
